The other three team trade that was put out there was nuts too. Cavs get Melo and Bledsoe and have to deal Love to the Suns and Kyrie to the Knicks lol.
yeah, when the tier 1 reporters say that NY is standing pat then that's when it can be taken very seriously
Sorry, you are right. It's the hardcap so we could just cut Uthoff, don't need to actually trade him.
The part of not having a NTC is one thing people definitely keep forgetting. I keep talking to people that are saying he is going to one of the 4 teams he wanted the same exact thing. CLE doesn't have to do anything they don't want. They can ship him anywhere they damn right feel like it because of the haul of players and picks they get. Why would they do him any favors?
1.) If Morey was the Knicks GM, Carmelo wouldn't have an NTC in the first place. 2.) If Morey and/or his owner had promised Carmelo that he'd be sent to that team, he'd probably eventually do it, yes. Morey is extremely aware of the importance of player relationships and organizational perception, especially when it involves a player as well known and powerful as Carmelo Anthony.
I feel so much more confident now that Steven A said Melo to Rockets is not happening. Remember - "5 HALL OF FAMERS JUST TEXTED ME SAYING AHRDEN QUIT"
Thanks. How far under the hardcap are we right now? and fwiw: we can also trade JUth the Truth to someone who actually wants him, as a side deal. Just has to be a 1for1 or 1forCash/Pick type deal, until Aug 28th. A 1for1 doesn't help us match since it adds another incoming player to the deal and a 1forCash/Pick doesn't help the other team cut any salary.
Kyrie doesn't have a NTC, but teams that are not on his list may feel compelled to offer up little for him if they feel like he won't re-sign there. They could also feel like they'll be able to convince him to stay during the 2 years he'll be on their team and offer Cleveland a nice package. We'll just have to wait and see. I could see a team like Denver trying to go after him. Perhaps Cleveland waits and sees if they can get Wiggins and Teague from Minny. The Spurs have nothing to offer. The Heat have Dragic, Whiteside, Winslow who I think is meh, and Bam who I think is nice. Would a package centered around 3 of those 4 players be appealing to Cleveland?
Agree on both points. Good example of #2 is Chandler Parsons. He made a promise and kept it, even when it clearly wasn't beneficial to us.
Did they promise Melo they would send him to us? I thought they only promised to try to find a resolution that worked for both sides? I just don't see Morey allowing any player to force him into making a deal that only hurts the Rockets .
