Stephen A. Smith? No, wait.....sorry: STEPHEN A. SMITH? (If I could up the font size I would.)

The same guy back in the day who thought Shaq should have been traded to "New Yawk" (and the Knicks had nothing, and I mean nothing, to offer)?

What part of Melo has a no trade clause do people not understand?

    He's not going to Denver.

Kyrie speaking out about leaving not only shot himself in the foot, but also prevented the remote possibility Melo agreeing to go there.

Honestly, the only thread we should start is what was more stupid, Kyrie believing the earth was flat, or kyrie commiting value suicide.

Methinks you should re-read what he wrote. He never suggested trading Melo to the Nuggets.

    LOL, good ole screamin stephen.

He will say anything to make it seem like his team has even the tiniest glimmer of hope. Kyrie isn't going to the Knicks and Carmelo will be a Rocket as much as he hates to admit it.

If the Rockets don't have enough for Melo you think the Cavs have enough for Kyrie.... BIG DUMMY!

So the Knicks are mad that Melo isn't open to being traded to any other team than the Rockets.

Melo is pissed that the Knicks front office has been asking him to waive his NTC and when he finally does they won't pull the trigger on a trade.

Neither party has any real leverage to force the other into action.

The chances that this situation resolves itself anytime soon are zero to none.

I think DD needs to kick start his Rockets videos back up with video of him Skype interviewing Potato Head about the Melo trade. He can bring on some of the forum "insiders" from time to time.

"My next guest is forum newbie who goes by the name deezballs and he wants to break the news of Melo being traded for the rights to Chuck Nevitt's neighbor's kid."

Thanks. Capela isn't enough? I don't buy that at all. I think a deal would be reached pretty quickly if Morey wanted to throw him in.

The Knicks aren't gonna get a good haul for Melo, especially not from us. Melo interest in the Cavs has dwindled now that Kyrie wants out and Lebron's future is uncertain. Then again, I saw recently that the Cavs were getting garbage offers for Kyrie since his trade request had been made public. If the Knicks were to offer up Melo, a young prospect like Frank or Willy, and a top 5 protected pick for Kyrie then perhaps that's the best Cleveland could do. All it would take is Melo agreeing to go there which seems like a long shot now. He's deadset on the Rockets.

I don't know anything about Shaq to NY from back in the day, but he does have direct access to Melo.

the part about NY calling off any trades and wanting to stand pat would need confirmation from reporters like Woj/Shams/Ramona etc

There you go. I can't put draft picks or Frank Ntikilna (sp?) in the deal but obviously all of that is in play here as well.

-Knicks have to eat Ryno to get Kyrie
-Cavs get two good players to put in the lineup with Lebron AND they get out of Shump's deal
-Rockets and Knicks have to send picks out in this deal. PHX needs a pick and so does Cleveland
-I'm using Taylor in the deal to make it work math wise on the trade machine, but you can switch out Uthoff when the date comes
-There's other salaries that can be added to give additional cap savings if needed.

obviously Stephen A. isn't close to the tier of guys like Woj, but he does know some things

he was saying that Kyrie was unhappy and thinking that Cleveland wasn't the ideal situation for him over a year ago, and I don't recall anybody else saying that back then

I can confirm, fellows, that the Knicks have completed committing to doing a deal with the Rockets and or other teams, and that this commitment is nonbinding.

Stay tuned for more. Mercury moves upcoming...

Everyday in Knicks training camp, Melo just needs to repeat that he feels confident about being a Rocket. Let's see how long the Knicks will take it.

If Morey was the Knicks GM right now how do you think he would handle this situation?

Aging star player who has a NTC only wants to go to one team and that team isn't willing to come off of any significant assets to obtain his services.

I actually think Morey would resist being forced into a trade he didn't like just like the Knicks are.

I must be missing something again, that y'all have confirmed. Why do we have to trade that much salary just to match Melo?

Since he makes $26m, don't we only have to send $20.9m out via that 125% matching rule? Or would we hit the hardcap if we don't match more? How close are we to the hardcap, btw?

Even if the hardcap is an issue, I'm pretty certain I can make a trade with Uthoff vs Taylor work, before Aug 28th.

That better be an unprotected 1st rd pick the Knicks are sending to the Suns. If not, why would the Suns do this?

Stephen A hears things but what he hears changes daily. It doesn't make him a liar but I can't get worked up by it one way or another.

Anyone who thinks Melo and the NTC is the only thing standing between Kyrie Irving and the Knicks is either a homer or uninformed.

Trades have to work for both teams. Even if Melo were willing to go there, Irving is under contract for at least two more years and has no NTC. What Kyrie wants is irrelevant, because he has no leverage. It's about Cleveland, and the idea that the Cavaliers are going to trade a 25-year-old Irving for a package headlined by a 33-year-old, declining Anthony is beyond lunacy.

Of course, Knicks' "sources" are more than happy to perpetuate this myth, because it gets the casual, uninformed fans blaming Carmelo rather than placing blame where it should be... which is at the NYK front office for having a roster that outside of Porzingis, doesn't have anywhere near the assets needed (or the cap room) to make a move for a star like Kyrie.

It's yet another example of the Knicks trying to make Melo the fall guy for their own mistakes. Ironically, they complain all the time about not wanting to trade Melo with his value at an all-time low... and some of the biggest reasons his value is so low are due to the NTC and other choices like this that are of their own doing. Welcome to James Dolan's New York Knicks.
