Of course they should ALL sides, big puma.. love the guy.
That's like saying some reality tv boss that was mostly known in the 90s for his cameos in cheesy films and failed ventures should not talk tremendous politics.

They can do what ever they want on their time.

For me sports is a escape from the real world. I prefer to keep politics out of the event.

I think "shut up and dribble" would only apply to basketball and soccer stars. All others have free reign.

Both options are stupid, but given who wrote them that is to be expected. The first option is the most valid, but the 2nd half of it is dumb.

Sports stars, like anyone else, should have opinions and should be free to express their opinions on whatever platform is made available to them.

The real question here, for me, is do media outlets have a responsibility not to exploit the celebrity status of an interviewee in order to advance particular political viewpoints.

Sure. Why shouldn’t they express their opinions and views? While their opinion is generally no more valid than yours or mine, they have every right to voice it. It is incumbent upon the people to discern the merits of their position. These guys have a nation wide stage to advance their agenda. They’d be foolish not to reasonably take advantage of it. I strongly suspect if Lebron James came out in favor of guns and advanced the President’s agenda, that he would not have been told to shut up and dribble by the Fox news woman.

Fox News has no problem with Curt Schilling’s political views.

Laura Ingraham is not a serious person and can be blissfully ignored.

In a capitalist fantasy world, all sports stars do is put the ball in the hole and hawk products we don't need. We cheer them on, drink beer and then go back to our 50 hr workweek.

Michael Jordan is the post-racial sports god. It just happens that he's black.

Bill Russell, Bill Bradley, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Muhammed Ali, Jackie Robinson, Tommie Smith, and John Carlos all took a stand on political issues and that's a good thing. Why would any American citizen have to just shut their mouth?

That being said, she's just trying to garner attention. If she really wanted him to keep quiet why would she invite him on her show? She wants him to bring viewers and an audience to her show. This publicity will already do that.

She's wrong, but so far she's winning because she's getting the publicity she hasn't had in forever.

What is Lebron told her to get back in the kitchen and make dinner?

I mean that is the same level as the bullshit spewing from her mouth.....neither of those comments are worth crap.....we are a country where everyone is equal - and she of all people certainly has no room to talk.

Being sport stars means, there is really not their time with today social media, unless you meant completely in private and not public.

The NBA celebrates Black History Month. They gave these stars and coaches a platform to speak up about racism. If that's political, the NBA is into politics.
