Depends on the issue, but talking politics is literally the job of politicians...so yeah, it's usually pretty acceptable for politicians to do their job. A sports figure's job is to talk about their sport, and it's usually pretty acceptable for them to do so.

It's often not a good idea for sports figures to talk politics or for politicians to talk sports. If Trump was bashing a sports figure about things having to do with how they played or coached their sport, most people would want him to shut up and stick to politics. What it comes down to is people staying in their lane.

Well, that's what happens when you get people getting out of their lane. If the players and coaches stuck to sports, then that's absolutely right. When they step into the realm of politics, they invite that kind of BS so it's not as black and white anymore.

I see your point but there is this little thing some like to call the 1st amendment which gives all these guys the right to say what they wish.

The first amendment doesn't guarantee that your speech won't be scrutinized by the public or that you won't face punishment from your job based on what you have to say....unless you work for the government. You are absolutely free to walk up to your boss tomorrow and talk about how you are banging his wife and daughter....but there will probably be consequences for you deciding to exercise your free speech in that manner.

It's no different for anyone. Trump runs his mouth like an idiot all the time, and the consequence SHOULD be that no one votes for him. A guy like Kap runs his mouth and NFL teams decide that he's not good enough to justify the headache he'd look to cause so he's unemployed.

Only difference most will see between them is one is the leader of the most powerful country in the world the other is just qb that some think is not worth a look see on the field but his stand did have some take a look at what was going on with injustices that have been taking place across the country it's got people talking.

LOL, no it didn't. His publicity stunt did nothing but hurt NFL ratings and further divide the nation. Hell, how many even remember that what Kap was actually protesting was a black cop shooting a criminal armed with a stolen gun? Probably very few.

There's no question that people should expect more from the POTUS, but this is what you get when both parties pick bottom of the barrel candidates and in this system one of the two essentially have to win.

Oh no sir it got people talking that would even think that there was a problem.
True on the second statement they were both bad but the people voted for the one that won so the rest of the people have to deal with this clown till he's either impeached or voted out .

If you say so, I mean, for the most part, there's not a problem though and people have largely moved on from that bandwagon in order to bang the drums to repeal the 2nd amendment. The crazies are fickle, so while they might have been enamored with the "hands up don't shoot" nonsense a few years back, by now they've moved on.

I doubt the black community has moved on from shitty law enforcement practices. It's still a major issue for them .

But hey, I'm sure you've spent enough time in research as a resident clutchfans D&D black lives matter expert to dismiss their greivences.

Is the Pilot being paid millions by the DOD to do a massive preflight patriotic show?

    Your analogies are hilarously bad.

What does that have anything to do with sports star stating their opinion? In this case, it's Lebron stating his opinion through his own media channel. Now if Lebron was playing ball, stop and pick up a mic and make his statement to the audience, you got a valid comparison. Since none of that happen ---> poor strawman attempt.

Pro athletes are war heroes we pay to see.

Their journies and struggles are simple and binary. Their scars are symbolic.

It's a slap in the face to all vets for stars like Kap to complain because we treat vets like **** to the point where we have to speak up and complain for them.

    The nerve of some people!

    Ungrateful deadbeats.

They have every right to do that, but I don’t have to fly that airline again. Just like you don’t have to watch the NFL if you can’t handle a quarterback taking a knee to bring awareness to The injustices of the black community.
