TSM down today because of huawei ban, if it drops to $45 I might start accumulating. Huawei needs tsm more than tsm needs Huawei. Read rumors recently that even Intel may start outsourcing fab work for some future products (as it struggles to keep up with amd/tsm).

Finally going up, at $168 now. I kept nibbling on the way down to $103, it went below $100 but I got scared and stopped buying haha. Will start to trim when it hits the 170s.

This could be a nice one.

I was also looking at AMAT / LRCX / KLAC

Mainly options on above, but TSM could be nice long term.

Yeah I think tsm is a long term play, may have to be patient, they fab for so many different customers, the global slowdown will impact some product lines, but long term they look like they have a real competitive edge.

@CCity Zero another long term play I'm looking at is LDOS. defence contractor that specialises in IT and bio medical - seems like the type of company u want if market tanks again during a pandemic/recession. Have a few shares; will definitely add if it goes below $90.

Amd is also looking very sexy, they could capture a lot of market share in the laptop space this year, but valuations are high, all this may already be priced in, which is why I was looking at tsmc instead.

for the most recent Qtr Earnings Call, it missed street's estimates.

yet, technically speaking, instead of tanking, its stock price appears to be consolidating, forming a base, a W-shaped bottom

insofar as the co's fundamentals / valuation,
perhaps there is something to the DCF analysis performed by the author of this article,
    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/intrinsic-calculation-leidos-holdings-inc-193515147.html,
w the suggestion that the intrinsic value of LDOS is under-valued by 23%
should the stock price protrude up thru the 20 MA, ~ 99, i may consider selling a put credit spread

upon further review, i will step away

LDOS' avg daily volume is < 1M, which is my criteria for playing option..

for lightly-traded stock, weird stuff can happen w options, like the price of a CALL moving in opposite direction from the stock price

    on Tue, made this sale
following 2 huge down days, in candlestick speak, yesterday was a hammer, small body w a long low shadow

hammers come during a down trend, it could signal a potential trend reversal,
the signal must be followed by a confirmation.
Today's green candlestick was effectively a confirmation of that trend reversal.

    from https://www.investopedia.com/terms/h/hammer.asp

    • Hammers have a small real body and a long lower shadow.
    • Hammers occur after a price decline.
    • The hammer candlestick shows sellers came into the market during the period but by the close the selling had been absorbed and buyers had pushed the price back to near the open.
    • The close can be above or below the open, although the close should be near the open in order for the real body to remain small.
    • Hammer candlesticks indicate a potential price reversal to the upside. The price must start moving up following the hammer; this is called confirmation.
in view of this, confident that the Aug 170 Call would still work for the 5-28-2020 earnings run

Now the reports are saying they've possibly narrowed down the location of the new Gigafactory to either Tulsa, Ok. or Austin.

Any suggestions for resources to learn the basics of option trading? I get it somewhat but still a little confused. Not really looking to master this or expecting to earn $$ from this, but would just like to have good knowledge on how it all works.
