1. I am pretty sure that JVG understands the importance of 3 pointers now given how the league as a whole has moved in favor of it. Moreover, JVG is friends with Daryl Morey, these two most certainly have talked about such issues.

2. It is entirely reasonable for one to understand the usefulness of a 3 pointer under current rules-- and to use 3 pointers frequently as a weapong-- while still finding the current rules bad for the aesthetics of the game.

It's the same thing with the intentional hacking. A lot of people, including coaches, find hacking to be something that make for ugly games, but at the same time understand that it can be a useful strategy in the right situation.
