I'm positive Linklater would somehow involve at least a few familiar faces from the original. Either way, this is awesome news as Linklater hasn't showed signs of missing a beat with his films IMO

No more original ideas in Hollywood.

Like the sequel to Dumb and Dumber that didn't happen, part of me wants to see this, while part says don't taint the original with this money grab attempt.

Does anyone who was actually around during the 70's think that the original was any good? Although I was a little kid during the 70's, I do remember them and I feel like the vibe of the movie is off as well as some of the characters.

NEver liked the movie either. Don't think the sequel will do well.

It would be funny if Matthew Mcconaughey made an appearance and was still trying to pick up high school chicks.

So what is a movie that depicts 70's teenagers from the 90'present day.

I personally loved that movie when I was a kid.

The first one was OK when I watched it in the 90's. Then I rewatched it years later and was like wth did I just watch?

Blech, no. This was already aimless, derivative gen-X retro stuff in '93, meaningless as hell now.

Yeah, I was in high school in Texas during that time and the movie is mostly correct. That opening scene with the muscle car (can't remember which) cruises through the outside party with 'Sweet Emotion' as back ground music is straight out of my high school days. I think the hazing was over-blown, but the drug use was not. That scene where the kid buys beer is spot on too.

It's Hollywood of course, but Dazed and Confused is still viable because people could relate, errr, right bro?

I was born in 1970 and my mother and her friends were exactly like the people in this movie.

The hazing was not overblown. In fact, it was a little underplayed.

In 1976 (when this movie supposedly takes place) I was 14. Do I think the movie was good? Hell yeah!!!! Not only do I think the movie was funny, but they also did a great job of depicting the 70's.

The original one was alright but gets way too over-hyped. I don't see how a sequel will end up all that well. Pass.

Having lived in Huntsville, I got to know some people that were around then. They said the movie wasn't that far off from reality. I was at a party once and the actual Slater showed up. He was kind of an ass. Went around telling people who he was and just had a real d***head vibe about him, expecting all of us to bow down to the great Slater.

I can't imagine where they'd go with a sequel this far from the original.
