I don't understand why coming off the bench is viewed as SO negative. If he ends up getting the same minutes or more, then that'll be good right? Ginobili, Harden, etc. all got the minutes. If it makes the team better I'm all for it, but we'll have to reserve judgement until after we see them play some games.

Sure, it's nice to be a starter, to have that self-confidence and, but if he plays well, then at least he'll know he's a player that's gonna be in this league for awhile to come.

It's more of a fan/media type thing to place some sort of stigma off being a bench player.

DAMN good article. This needs to be stickied on Clutchfans.

Opposing teams average 5 pts less with Beverley on the court? Are you kidding me??

    Bev for DPOTY

No as long as Lin has a delusional pack of followers, that won't be changing.

Huh? Most players including Lin are better at spot up threes than catch and shoot threes. Lin's problem with catch and shoot threes is that he doesn't shoot enough catch and shoot threes. A lot of times, it seems he is always looking to create that he sometimes passes up open three pointers that someone else has created for him.

LOL you can believe whatever you want. People talk about Lin a lot more than you think. There is 7 thread in the Garm front page. There probably more on second and third pages. Howard has none just by himself in the front page. People talk about Lin.

I'm not arguing I'm just stating facts. He attracts a lot of media just because his Asian from Harvard.

He also brought back half of NBA fans that left after the lockout, according to you. He is responsible for 50% of the people currently watching the NBA.

Depends on the player. Kyle Korver, Steve Novak, JJ Reddick, even Casspi are better catch and shooters than at creating their own shot.

With Lin coming back he intrigue the people who stopped watching and brought people who don't play/watch basketball. < what I said

He intrigue them to watch NBA again. Anyways I believe he brought a lot of fans. More than 10 million to watch NBA.

A lot of people stopped watching NBA because of the lock out and nothing else was new. It was just Kobe for 10 years. Now we have Asian sensation that came from Harvard.

    Just my perspective.

Going to drink that delicious rocket red koolaid and say Lin will thrive coming off the bench. 6th man is just as important role as a starter.

I'm assuming McHale will have Lin and Bev play together also, which makes a dynamic backcourt.

Are you foreal right now????? Please give me actual facts and numbers to back this up. Jermey Lin isn't even the biggest draw in china let alone the world lol. There's no way in hell that Jeremy Lin is the reason for half the current viewers of the NBA.

I know Lin has one of the larger fan bases in the nba. What makes it unique is he's the first player to have such a large group of fans without first being a dominate player or even and allstar. I truly believe that this is what drives people like myself crazy. I like Jeremy Lin and think he's a good young player but I also think it's absolutely crazy that he would every have more media attention than James harden or Dwight Howard who I might add are all-NBA players top 10 in the game.

Yeah I don't understand why people see it as a demotion. I still say he's the better PG on the team, now he's just coming off the bench where they desperately need a play maker and someone that could get his own shot. Outside of Lin, Casspi, and Garcia they don't have a lot of offense.

lin is more assertive and decisive without harden and thus shoots better. more focused on scoring rather than making sure everyone else get their touches.

harden with lin gets more open looks - i'm sure a lot of the 39% 3's were off of lin assists. draws the crowd, kick to harden for open 3. or run the break, dumps off to harden for open three. we've seen those plenty of times last year and even in this preseason.

with lin on the court, it makes everyone else's job (at least on the offensive side) a little easier. but if dwight can be just as efficient of a player as he was orlando, then it wouldn't make that much of a difference.

it's probably that we ran a 3 guard rotation the entire pre season.

I think Lin is one of our 5 best players and I have high hopes for him, but it's about fit, especially with Harden. I think he can be our Ginobili type guy, and be a key, key player for our playoff and title run. It's much better that he can come in with an attacking mindset, rather than constantly deferring to Harden and becoming timid as a result. And I think he will get at least 30 minutes per game, so they will still play together, and he will still play with Howard. I love our depth.

There is a differnce between what people HERE are talking about and what people are talking about outside Clutchfans. They are not always the same.

Example....all I have gotten to see so far tonight was the Sportscenter coverage of the game(no CSN), and they never mentioned Lin once. They did however, talk extensively about Dwight Howard.

Just because alot of yall think of nothing but Jeremy Lin 24/7 doesnt mean he is that big of a topic on mainstream sports media.
