OK halfbreed, let's assume for a moment that you didn't make your original comment that multiple people were hunting down and mutilating stingrays on multiple beaches not even two weeks after the death of an Australian TV star killed by a stingray was somehow done out of "fear of attack"

No, killing a stingray becuase it swims close to you is not justifiable because you think it may or may not attack you. That is not self defense, that is paranoia. Let's say that you were walking to your car late at night behind a woman that was walking to her car that was in the same area and she turns around, maces you in the face, and kicks you in the nuts because she thought you were going to rape her. Was that justifiable?

If a stingray stings you, then you kill it, THAT is self defense based on fear.

when you purposely go onto someone else's territory uninvited or unannounced, what could you possibly be defending yourself from?

if i just break down your door, you have every right to beat me. what's teh justification for me doing that to you?

One could simply take a handful of keys and look for Corvette Stingrays and keep the animals out of it....

    Makes as much sense.

    Sonofabitch.

I just noticed this thread after starting my own stingray thread.

There's a lot of love for the 'rays.

So where does the stingray's territory begin? The shore?

I'll admit that my first comment was not based on this story but another that I read on the subject that didn't list the stingrays mutilated bodies on the beach. However, I still don't see a problem with killing a stingray that you fear is going to attack you. I'm not saying that stingrays all attack but if you fear that one is going to attack you based on certain factors, not trying to prevent the attack is stupid.

However, I'll just shutup and take my hits because it's my fault for not reading the article posted here in the thread.

    Apologies all around.
