Was it worth It? I still say yes for Watson but that 2nd to make Cleveland take that bum, that sucks. So with the 4th pick in the 3rd round, Texans pick....
The 1st round pick doesn't hurt.........it is the 2nd round pick to get rid of Brock that is the issue.
So long as Watson bounces back and plays like a top 10 QB, I don't give a damn what pick the Browns get for deciding to not have a franchise QB.
Trading away a second round pick just to get rid of Osweiler is one of the dumbest trades in history.
Browns going to F it up anyway, we know they will. They are going to have two top 5 picks and screw this up somehow.
The whole point of trading Osweiler was bc we were trying to get cap space for Romo. Hindsight is 20/20...but at that time, it made sense to get rid of a guy that had created a lot of distraction and had no future with the team. If Jerry Jones had released Romo in a timely manner, the Texans had positioned themselves to be financially able to sign him. Yes, knowing that we could have had Watson and he'd be an amazing QB after watching him play in the NFL is one thing, but nobody knew anything back then....we just knew we needed a QB and Osweiler being on the roster prevented us from getting a guy like Romo.
Yeah they were both bad. Two of the things smart offices don't do is trade away a ton of picks and overpay for free agents. The current Texans are an experiment in the opposite.
I'm glad we have Watson now but Garappolo was still there for the taking. I knew he was going to be good.
Just look at the Watson trade as a 1st and 2nd. Think about how much was traded for Goff and Wentz. Very comparable. Neither of those teams are complaining or having regrets.
If Watson wasn't on the team, the whole year would have changed. Chances are neither Watt nor Mercilus would have been hurt. Team would probably have floundered to around 8-8 on the strength of a better defense and still been looking for a QB.
You simply cannot make the assumption that everything would have remained exactly the same had something never happened. Not the butterfly effect...it's common sense.
You can make all kinds of assumptions. So, in theory, I guess you can assume the season progresses the exact same way, but it's highly doubtful.
who would you rather have in this year’s draft instead of Watson anyway? They will probably take kirkpatrick, a qb, or saquan
