There seems to be a lot of respect paid to the Jazz, and by respect I mean fear.., on this board. A lot of which I think is undeserved. Still I will give credit to Sloan for being a great coach and most of Utah's success the last 20 years I think has been due to him. So given how much we worry about the Jazz if Sloan were available would y'all want him coaching the Rockets?
I like Adelman as the coach of this team, but if he wasn't here and Sloan was leaving the Jazz, I'd be all for bringing him in.
We don't have that many "Sloan players" except Artest and Landry. Regardless I would not want him coaching the Rockets because my hate for the Jazz runs too deep.
I would LOVE to have him coaching here...he has the most 'easy bucket' plays i have seen. His stagger offense so extremely underrated.
I'm voting, maybe, myself. I think Sloan is a great coach. I hate him but he's produced results fairly consistently over the last 20 years even during Utah's so called rebuilding years. I think it would take time for Sloan though to fit in with the Houston organization and if we have Sloan I want to see some quick results.
LOL. Exactly what I wanted to say. Sloan is a great coach, no question about it. But I will never want him to be near my team. I like all our coaches, Rudy T, JVG, and now RA to a lesser extend for his non-passionate on-court presence, but I certainly respect their experience and coaching abilities.
He may be a great coach, but I don't think I could be as strong as a Rocket fan with him leading the team. Anything associated with the Jazz or Utah turns me off.
Never! That would be worse than the Pippen experiment. That still makes me feel dirty. The Jazz have been the cheap-shot champs of the league for a long time and all credit goes to Sloan. Edit: Oh, and to your point about fearing the Jazz... I think that's just because they present a matchup nightmare for us. We didn't fear them in the mid-90s because we were their matchup nightmare.
It's JVG with hair...his success would hinge on the group of players he has playing for him. You can't deny the fact that he is a great coach. 0 championships or not.
As much as we love to hate Jazz player because of their cheap, dirty, cheating, flopping style of play...they are only doing what they are taught from Sloan himself. I would rather Don Nelson before him.
