I don't think I will be tipping the cable guy anytime soon...
Would you tip any of these?

5 people you might not tip (but should)

as i've grown older, i've gotten to the point where i detest malls so all my shopping is done online. I left a $100 tip for christmas to 'newman'. It might not be much, but having to deliver mail in texas summers must not be comfortable.

tipping dry cleaners with what they charge already is ridonk.

    No.

I don't understand this tipping infatuation. Everybody wants to add a gratuity line to their receipts now.

It's actually illegal for someone to give me payment of gratuity.

If someone goes above and beyond their job, then I may throw in some cash, particularly when someone does work they aren't charging for, but if the cable guy comes out and hooks up your cable, why would he get gratuity? He did his job.

Here's a tip for the tow truck driver: Next time take a few minutes longer to get to me so you don't come close to killing another driver.

I don't tip cable guy because:

    1. They don't show up on time
    2. They work in their own little world
    3. Not much interaction between you and the technician really. He just does his job while you sit and wait.

I wouldn't cash tip the cable guy, road repair guy, plumber or etc.. but if it looked like they were doing a good job or going beyond the above and expected I might do something nice like get them a cold drink or snack.

A few years ago I was redoing my roof and it was a very hot week in MN so at the end of the job I got the crew a six pack of beer. I once had a flat and took it to a repair shop and they patched it with no charge. It was also summer so I got the shop a gallon of ice cream.
