Spain has played terribly this entire tournament. Their one win, over New Zealand, wasn't nearly as much of a blowout as the score would hint that it was. It was a four point game at half and at times the Spanish looked disinterested. Against New Zealand, you can afford to drift off for stretches. Against almost anyone else in this tournament, particularly in the knockout stage, you can't do that.
A3PO & Francis 4 Prez, great recaps of the Spain/Brazil game. Agree totally...only 4 players showed up for Team USA. The rest were just pathetic. And about Spain, as Charles said when he was on the Dream Team "They're in a whole lot of trouble".
Danny Granger doesn't like the way people smell in Turkey because they don't use deodorant. Something about dead donkeys. http://youbeenblinded.com/danny-granger-on-europe-smellin-like-dead-donkeys/8949#more-8949
What a major crumble job by China. Up by 2 possessing the ball with 4 mins left and they give up 14 straight points to Russia. Oh well, I was hoping they could pull off the upset.
That team is so tragic. They have looked down right horrible this tournament. You won't win many games with that kind of defense. You also won't win many games when their starting PG is Liu Wei. Seriously, there is no way he's the best point guard that China has to offer.
Jordan vs Argentina is GREAT! The Argentina guards are just chucking but when they need a basket who do they call...Scola.
boki has great hair! he was never losing his hair, he was just shaved, which made him look like a psycho. great game by my national team - slovenia =) although we almost choked in the 4th boki with a sweet three point dagger in the last 10 seconds to seal the deal
I know we're probably the favorites now, but with Spain performing poorly, do you guys think our biggest competition is Argentina? Scola has absolutely been tearing it up on the courts out there!
Today features the matchup of Yao's teammate, Scola, vs. Yao's employee, Zaid Abbaas of Jordan (who plays professionally for the Shanghai Sharks).
Germany was up by 4 with 30 seconds left in regulation and just needed to inbound the ball. They throw it out of bounds and then an Angolan player hits the luckiest 3-point bank-shot you ever want to see. Germany ends up losing in OT and is eliminated from advancing to the round of 16. They previously had the ball up 4 with about 40 seconds left and threw it away. That's a tough way to lose.
