Trae Young makes sense on a surface level--he is young enough to be an okay fit timeline-wise, and on offense he plays similar to FVV while averaging better numbers (except for the turnovers). Lots of pick-and-roll, lots of three pointers, high assists. The problem is mainly the defense. He is a huge liability on that end and that's one of the reasons his teams have not been very successful even though on paper they probably should be.
Uhg Trae Young? If Stone does that then this front office has absolutely lost their mind. Alp and Young is just a recipe for disaster.
The rebuild was already partly ruined by drafting Jalen Green. But yeah Trae isn't a player I'd want to move these picks for either.
They are not going to get Luka either (colossal mistake by the Hawks to select Trae) We are here discussing that is because we would not see a much better player.......in a long time. Jayson Tatum is the only guy that would come here and play for Ime Udoka but he would be 34 or 35 ......if Udoker was still here in 9 years. If we are strictly talking about superstars and not just washed All Stars,
Why does big Steve look like he's regretting all the life choices that resulted in him ending up here? Doesn't look all that stoked to be a Rocket
I think he is just contemplating what to do after 1 year of sitting out.....has to be hard as a player.
Jalen Green is not considered a good defender either, yet the team is 7th in defense overall with him and Sengun playing together. Individual defense can be misleading. Put players in a scheme that works and individual shortcomings can be managed. I’m not sure what trade package would get this done, but if anyone is saying that they wouldn’t want Trae Young on this team over Green because of his defense, they are missing the forest for the trees.
First day at a new job and the only person I know being Dillon Brooks would probably have me looking like that too
Trae is a much much much more problematic player defensively than Green and his offensive output won't mitigate that. He's worse Lillard who is a god awful defender.
He can replace FVV, however Amen Thompson may develop into a younger version of Tyus Jones in a couple of years. Trae wouldn't be a franchise player for Houston. I'm not in favor of having him on a huge contract. He can't play defense either.
This is quite the conundrum. You read 40-50 pages of complaints about the atrocious offense being what is holding the team back, so you make a suggestion to improve the offense and get immediately nuked. Back to the drawing board.
