oh for sure i wouldn't take on dieng's contract but you never know....Morey's probably thinking that he can package Dieng next year as an expiring for something else?

but yes, OPJ is a no brainer.

Or OKC sends Noel to HOU as part of WB trade. That works too.

Nah, i think more Covington for two 1st rounders or one if we also take Dieng.
Shoking maybe, but i'd probably take Dieng and keep a 1st...in a year you could trade him and that pick for another upgrade...of course, that would cost us more tax now so, yeah...

I also wonder how much Gersson was involved in the pick of guys like Hartenstein and Clark, and how much he would value them in a trade, especially Gary since he basically plays in the same spot as Rob.

I thought of that too (using Dieng's expiring contract next year) but our draft war chest is pretty empty that there's little that we can attach to him to make it enticing.

But as an expiring he won't have negative value, if you add a 1st round pick you should be able to get a solid player or maybe even two bench guys...of course now i don't know if there'll be players available for a similar trade, might be too big of a risk to take him cause if you can't find a trade partner next season you would end up paying a lot of money for nothing...but yeah, was just throwing the idea out there.

CH44 bomb! This might be the post of the summer. Somehow getting RoCo would be a clear difference maker.

Dieng is getting paid entirely too much, but it's only for 2 years. He'd be a plus rotation piece, as he can get boards and shoot the occasional mid-range/three.

But I very much doubt Tillman would be willing to pay the incremental salary + tax it'd take to bring on both players
(no judgment here, as it'd cost us $30 MM+)

I hope you are spot on this one. RoCo would be an unbelievable fit here in Houston. I'd take Diengs contract of their hands if it meant not giving up another FRP. Don't know if Tilman would swallow that contract though.

The more I think about it the more I'm thinking Dieng's the hold up. I threw that out there at first but now I think it is. I just looked at their 2020-2021 salary cap hits:

    Wiggins 29.5
    KAT 29.5

That's $59 million plus about another $12 million in salaries which brings them to about $71 million WITHOUT Dieng and Covington on the books, giving them almost TWO max salary slots if the salary cap holds at the projected $117.

This gives them flexibility to throw sizable contract offer to a RFA that will be available next summer:
    Jaylen Brown
    Caris Lavert
    Domantas Sabonis
    Brandon Ingram
    Dejounte Murray
    Pascal Siakam
    etc.

Rosas will most likely try to package any picks that comes in from a Covington trade with their own picks to get out of Wiggins' contract. If he gets out of that contract and takes nothing back they could very well put a combination of any of the two above with KAT for the 2020-2021 season..

Just take on dieng if it means getting RoCo sure he’s WAY over paid but he is serviceable.

    Capela/Chandler
    Tucker/Dieng/Clark
    Covington/House
    Harden/Gordon
    Westbrook/Rivers

    That's not bad at all. Dude's also a 79% career FT% shooter

Thanks for the update. If the Rockets could snag either Covington or Iguodala by expanding the trade, that would be great.
