Eight potential Wizards trades involving John Wall, Bradley Beal and Otto Porter Jr. that could fix things in D.C. Orlando Magic receive: John Wall & Ian Mahinmi Washington Wizards receive: Jonathan Isaac, DJ Augustin & Evan Fournier New Orleans Pelicans receive: Otto Porter Washington Wizards receive: Julius Randle & Solomon Hill Philadelphia 76ers receive: Bradley Beal Washington Wizards receive: Zhaire Smith, Wilson Chandler, Markelle Fultz & 2021 first-round draft pick (via Miami) Miami Heat receive: John Wall Washington Wizards receive: Goran Dragic & 2019 first-round draft pick Houston Rockets receive: Otto Porter Washington Wizards receive: Eric Gordon & Brandon Knight Spoiler With the Houston Rockets losing both Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute over the course of the offseason, their perimeter defense has taken a major hit, which is why a player like Otto Porter would be an intriguing option for them on the trade market. While he is not considered to be a lock-down defender, Porter is more than capable of guarding both the small forward and power forward positions, which would give the Rockets a true two-way player who could help make an impact on the perimeter on both ends of the floor. For Washington, the Wizards would get out of Porter's large contract and save some money in the long run by taking back a package of Gordon and Knight. With Kelly Oubre Jr. and Troy Brown Jr. on their roster, Washington has a number of players who would be capable of filling Porter's role with the team moving forward, and the addition of Gordon would provide the Wizards with some much-needed offense from the perimeter -- Washington only shoots 32 percent as a team from beyond the arc. -- Michael Bohlin Miami Heat receive: Bradley Beal Washington Wizards receive: Josh Richardson, Tyler Johnson & 2019 first-round draft pick Portland Trail Blazers receive: Otto Porter Washington Wizards receive: Meyers Leonard, Maurice Harkless, Anfernee Simons & 2019 first-round pick Charlotte Hornets receive: Otto Porter Washington Wizards receive: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist & Cody Zeller
Yeah that Wizards team is ripe for parts. Either for a BIG piece or for bench DEPTH. I could easily go in either direction. All of those players would fit on the Rockets in some capacity.
The Rockets offense basically "blunt forces" the math with 3s. The shooting is average but it is about volume. It is maddening to see Gordon's 20% 3pt shooting. Same with Gerald Green. If you can get a "good to great" shooter on the team, considering the volume, you move the needle
1. Did anyone really believe HE was the issue? 2. Is he forgetting that D12 is like cancer and AIDS to a locker room?
Bro, everyone forgot you were even playing in the NBA. We all figured you moved back to Poland and opened a sausage factory.
Close. Very close. Remember these factors. 1. Washington is one of the few franchises bleeding red ink. Their outgo is more then their income. This has been they're status for deferral recent seasons. 2. They are correctly over the luxury tax line by $7,797,180. 3. Their coach is owed around $20 million over the remainder of this season and the next two seasons. So they really can't afford to fire him. 4. They have traded their 2019, 2020, and 2021 seconds rounders away. But their 2020 has top 55 protection, so they could wind up keeping it and will unless they are a top 5 team next season. They own Atlanta's second rounder this coming summer but it is top 55 protected and so Atlanta is going to keep that pick. So bottom line is they don't have a second rounder to send out in trade unless they send out their 2022 second rounder. And that's too far away to be worth much as an asset in a deal. 5. They could go to the lottery so they really can't afford to trade a first rounder without pick protections on it. ================================ Knowing all these factors should lead you to conclude that the Wizards see looking for a way to drop salary down while not sending out cash or picks or players that are assets, with the priorities being no cash and no picks. So what players would they like to see go away the most to get them out of the tax? Obviously guys making money on long term deals that ain't playing or making good money on expiring deals and not playing. Who's that? Back it up and go from there. The most likely scenario is Washington finds a deal between now and Dec. 7 that allows them to step down in salary for this season and at least get close to the tax line (if not under) while still keeping Wall, Beal, Oubre, Porter, and Kief (who really is their best center presently) and then reassess at the trade deadline whether they need to move one of their top rotation players while talking trade for the next 2 months and getting the full lay of the land covering best trade values so they can then operate optimally at the trade deadline.
Chris Sheridan. I mean, sure, I'd like to believe him (a broken clock is right twice a day, it could happen) but why not bring back Broussard? "Multiple sauces---Prego, Ragu, Newman's Own---have told me that Dwight Howard is currently re-thinking his decision to sign with the Rockets. And, in hindsight, Rockets' fans are re-thinking it, too."
Lakers Reportedly Targeting Bradley Beal, Derrick Favors In Summer Moves The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in trading for Bradley Beal or Kyle Lowry should either player become available this summer, according to league sources. Though each potential deal has its complication. The Wizards, currently looking to fill their vacant president of basketball operations position, have made no decision on whether to move Beal. Lowry may become available should Kawhi Leonard leave the Raptors in free agency. The Lakers are also said to be interested in signing Derrick Favors should the Jazz decline their team option.
If Beal(e) Street Could Talk... He wants TF out of D.C. That's not a secret in the NBA and he was shopped at the deadline, even though Wizards front office said they were staying with the core...and then Otto gets traded. John Wall isn't going to be ready, and those injuries are career changing. Beal may be the 2nd to 3rd best SG in the league (CJ of RipCity is underrated by everyone), and he knows his value. The Wizards aren't going anywhere. Beal will get out, and I bet Dwight will be traded back to Atlanta for some unfinished business. (that wasn't nice of me)
Good to see the Lakers targeting the top names in free agency and trade. There is little doubt that Kyle Lowry and Derrick Favors will lead the Lakers to the promised land.
