The phillies system is pretty bare. Expecting biddle and Joseph to be off the table....hoping for Trevor May. Not much else there that's exciting.
Most mentioned name is that other catching prospect. Possibly Brown if it were truly ML talent. Hopefully we will know shortly.
I really hope it is Brown. He would fit anywhere in our OF. Left, center, or right. I am not sure of his natural position, but i am sure he could any of the three. I also think that he would be an instant upgrade over any of our starters now. I think he has an amazing future if he is in the right situation. I really hope it is him!
If Sebastian Valle is involved, then the Astros suddenly have a pretty decent hierarchy at catcher. Castro Valle Perez Heineman Pena
Once again, Luhnow seems to make a deal at the right time (selling high). That being in this case a 29 year coming off one of his best years. I should withhold judgement till I see who we are getting, but I am betting I wont be disappointed.
No way we get a 25 year old corner OF with an OPS of .703 in 433 PAs, coming off consecutive AAA seasons of an OPS in the .760s for a legitimate setup guy who is under club control for 3 years, will be very cheap, and has posted 3 consecutive seasons with a sub-3 ERA?
while he is selling high, that's far from the most pertinent factor...it's more that - like myers, lyon, whoever - a "plus" closer/reliever has no real value to a (for the foreseeable future) cellar-dwelling team. pretty much a no-brainer. kid is good though. nice pickup by the phillies. happy trails, wilton.

Only person I've seen report that. Luhnow wouldn't comment until it is finalized, so we can't do anything with that.
Phillies.com is reporting players have been agreed to and Lopez is in town for his physical. Will be announced after he passes it.
probably...but you'd have to have some major foresight to know that you are selling high if the guy is 24 years old. i'd trust that they'd be able to find a comparable closer/reliever by the time 4 years or so rolled around and they were competitive again.
