It certainly wasn't Maclane's fault that the Astros did not hit in the 97, 98 and 99 playoffs. He may catch a lot of flack, but the Astros put very good teams on the field those 3 years (O.K., O.K., the 97 team was not in the 'very good' category, but they still had a good hitting team that neglected to hit in the playoffs) ------------------

That sucks. Luck has not been good to the Astros lately. Hopefully Drayton and Hunsicker will take advantage of Bagwell's contract extension not kicking in until 2002 and improve the ballclub in much needed areas such as pitching. ------------------
