Dmo should start, but mchale won't do that I don't think. The starting unit flows better on offense and defense with dmo starting. On offense he's always setting picks and getting guys to move off the ball and on defense he's a better team defender. Offense rarely gets stagnant when dmo is on the court.
Terrence Jones is basically our best player half of the time in the first quarter.... Dmo seems to be holding more poise a lot of the time when the game gets grindy, but Jones is much better in the earlier free flowing mode. A lot of that is that Jones plays garbage duty when we're trying to figure out what they're trying to do (doubling Dwight? trapping the perimeter? the Harden flex?)
No need to change the starting lineup, T Jones kills it in the first quarter. I would like to see the minutes move toward more of a 24/24 split with DMO finishing. And why isn't DMO getting tons of postups with the 2nd unit?
I find it odd that Jones usually has great first halves but mediocre second halves. And DMo is the opposite with bad first halves and good second halves. Jones starts the first half, Dmo the second. Lolol. I do worry about the playoffs though because they are such wildcards. I really don't trust either in close matches much less playoff games now. I'm not McHale would trust either in those situations either. Do we go to twin tower in closing minutes? Any good power forward in free agency?
The lineup does not and should not change. He will cut into minutes, but chemistry matters. Even tho DMo fits with either center, I feel Jones only fits with Dwight. He didn't play the 4th because his D is pretty bad, both his help D AND his man D. He's a fantastic shot blocker against weak 4's, but he gets abused against anyone else. DMo still gets pushed around but he is extremely active and smart, send the guy to the foul line and make him earn the points. The answer is clearly no.
Nah, Jones should still start. He is usually a very efficient first quarter scorer when teams are locked in on Howard and Harden. Having said that, DMo should close out and at the end of the day, the guy playing better should get more minutes. At worst it should be a 28/20 split.
They're both backup PF's at this stage in their careers. D-Mo, to me, is a situational/specialist player in this league - but on this team we need him to step up because Jones gets lost. The fact that this is even a debate is a bad sign for our PF situation (this year - I'm not saying Jones wont grow over time). We have 2 backup PF's and 2 backup PG's.
The player that is technically the starter doesn't concern me much. It's just a label. What I'm more concerned with is the player that finishes the game. Frankly, I'm fine with the platoon strategy. Let TJ, D-Mo and Asik battle it out for minutes and simply finish with whichever player is hot and/or most effective on both sides of the ball. One thing I will say: another poster already touched on this, but a potential game-changer in all of this would be if one of those guys is able to shoot consistently from distance. D-Mo is quietly putting together a solid string of games and improving his shooting percentages across the board. Definitely something to keep an eye on.
Why do people say I could care less? It's I couldn't care less. If you couldn't care less, then you don't care at all. That is what you are trying to say, so why not say it. I don't understand how this sentence turned into sarcasm during the 21st century and it got turned around. ut to answer your question, no I don't think he will. Jones and Beverley go well together. It would throw out half a season's work. He isn't that good. Yet.
Donatas was 0-1 from 3pt land. Jones was 7-10 from the field. You want to know why Jones disappears in the second half? It's because he gets benched. We were yelling at the TVs at Jake's last night.
I think D-Mo is simply more trustworthy to get a crucial rebound and stay with his assignment/rotate on defense as opposed to Jones (mostly the rebounding part). D-Mo is also shooting at a better clip from outside recently. I honestly feel more comfortable with him closing out games if we don't go small. Jones can continue to start, however.
pretty harsh critisism. especially throwing that dig at our PGs. considering our PF's are both younger than me (23) I actually like our PF prospects moving forward.
Dmo would foul out as a starter, better to leave him coming off the bench and whomever has the better matchup plays the most minutes. DD
