the glove sure didn't drop off that much that year. but for some reason he went mia in the finals.

for the topic, i don't who is a greater coach. and i don't care. both are great coaches. that's enough for me. for those who say pj has always had the bst player/team (and he still may do), you've also gotta acknowledge that pj developed the young guns on the current lakers team. that's something he had not done too much before he took on this lakers team.

 

Blame it on PJ or blame Payton for not adjusting his game to suit Kobe and Shaq. Whatever. I don't remember much of GP that year except for the playoffs, where he didn't do well at all. He was in decline.

Look, you might have seen a lot more Lakers games than I did. Fine. But in the playoffs, GP looked like a shell of what he was. I don't remember if injuries were a problem. If they were, maybe I'm being too hard on him.

 

He actually did really well against Tony Parker after getting abused in the first 2 games of that series. He came back and helped the Lakers win 4 straight against the Spurs.
