I agree, he should have exercised more discipline, but we really don't know what he said or did behind the scenes. He certainly wasn't perfect, but he deserved better than a "Tom Landry" exit. And I will always believe that the players were ultimately responsible. Besides, in the modern NBA, a player can only be shaped, directed, and disciplined by a coach if they want to be. NBA players have become like independent nations, wealthy corporations, ego-domains of universal proportions; who controls them?

What ever was said or done behind the scenes didn't work.

I don't think the Rockets should stand completely pat, but shouldn't try to make any BIG moves unless they get an offer they can't refuse. I just have a few rules:
    1. No Knick Guards.
    2. No rookies or extremely young players
    3. No soft/finesse big men
    4. Don't trade Eddie Griffin for nothing
    5. Think really hard before trading Mobley for a player who is just about as talented but makes twice as much.

What I would like to see them get:
    1. A veteran backup point guard
    2. A veteran backup shooting guard.
    3. A veteran "bruiser" power forward.
