cp3? his salary doesnt affect or cap or anything this summer. Hes earned his max. Theres no reason for him to take less. Durant had to take less to make the financials work. He had to sign with cap space. He got every nickel he could to b**** out and join the already championship team.
is he about to get 210 million from the rockets? surely you can't be that dumb or are you. i guess the thread speaks for itself
Durant is never gonna have respect for these titles, never, and he knows it. It's the one small bit of karmic justice in this whole thing. Dream, Jordan, Nowitzki, Kobe, pre-Durant Warriors etc. There's an unmatched sense of accomplishment when you lead your team to the mountaintop after having worked so hard. Something he will never get to feel. Joining a team already at the mountaintop simply isn't the same, even if he technically is a champion.
Durant could have cemented himself as an a top 10 all time great, by going to the Wiz (his home town) RIP the eastern conference crown away from Lebron and with Wall and Beal and a bunch of very serviceable players, contend with Gsw and Houston. If he won the Chip that way, you gotta give him that respect.
Or literally any team besides the Warriors or Cavs. There are 28 teams he could have went to and made himself a legend earning a title. Instead he went one of the 2 places a chip was guaranteed, and cemented himself as a historically talented b**ch.
The more players take paycuts, the more they screw over all the negotiations that led to current CBA. Durant takes paycut and makes a super team. No other team is competitive unless their superstar(s) take paycuts also, so they do. In the end, you get more superstars on fewer teams and happy owners because they get better teams (plus merchandise, TV exposure etc.) for less money. Taking a paycut is the dumbest thing a player can do, because that means lots of other players will have to take paycuts too if they want to play on a contending team. That's why i respect LeBron. He knows what he's worth and he doesn't want to screw with other players' salaries by taking a paycut himself.
this is an extremely stupid thread...people that try and defend KD’s decision are just clueless Respect KD? What a joke...
It's already a btch move to join the nba champions to chase a ring when u basically in your prime but to join them after u lose to them in playoffs cupcake snake level right there. And u wonder y Durant isn't satisfied. He could win 4 more rings and he will still never be considered in contention for goat.
Usually winning absolves/erases bad views on a player (bron and da move), Durant is in a lose-lose when it comes to his image. Durant can win as much rings as he want, the p***y stigma is probably gonna stick forever. Complains about being number 2 to bron and joins the best team in da nba. The more he wins the more scorn he gets, if he doesn't win he gets sht on even more.
Quite the contrary. Those other guys were at least home grown, and I have some tiny amount of respect for that. I have no respect for Durant. He is the enabler of all of Golden State's arrogance and self importance. An MVP level player going to the league leading team that just beat him in game 7 is also unprecedented. He also did it during an off-season in which a glitched cap jump enabled it - meaning he could've picked any team in the NBA. He has turned the last two years playoffs into an unwatchable dance recital for those little Golden State spotlight whores. Then the twitter stuff, and the obsession with trying to prove that two rings now "validate" him. Durant is the prime evil. Kerr is also a spiteful, entitled turd though.
And it would have brought balance to the league. Tor, Bos, Was, in the east and Gsw, Hou, and several other pretenders in the west.
A superstar that joins a winning team that whupped his butt in playoffs, and willingly takes a paycut to keep winning rings = beta as fk.
