It's kind of sad but a lot of people on the right act this way and then wonder why blacks vote democratic. That is why though, this attitude of "These are your REAL problems" is the exact reason why. I've always said that a lot...I don't know if I'd say most...but a lot of black people are socially conservative, but since the GOP and its followers never reach out or try to empathize they never get that vote.
It's already been said that a poster was acting like he knew the real problems while others didn't. That is the context that framed the responses.
Do you think that being black gives you a magic ability to have full awareness of the problems they face? There are people of all races lacking understanding, and there are many debatable points. Object to the idea, not the person.
Do you understand the concept of being an out-of-touch arrogant condescending douchebag? If you want people to listen to your ideas and not write you off, you might want to understand.
I think we should pay special attention to people who have the most experience with the problems. The word of people who have a lifetime of experience should carry a little more weight than someone else who has a superficial knowledge and presumes to tell others about what the real problems are. I believe anyone suggesting constructive solutions should be listened to and their ideas considered. But as someone who doesn't have the same experiences, history, and challenges, I think it makes sense to listen to people that do have a lifetime. We learn a lot more when our mouths are shut and ears open than when we're doing the talking.
I agree in part... the bold part. I don't think it means that person is always right, but yes a personal experience does carry special weight. Anyway, carry on. This is a tangent at this point.
