Why do women get to 'take a break' or 'take a sabbatical'?

Unsure about the women you have "dated" ... but the ones I have dated were properly equipped.

 

If you ever wonder why you have to pay to get laid........ this is why.

If he is, that's definitely not any kind of break. When mine were young, I went to work to take a break.

Thinking on it more, when I was just out of college and working, I did meet a guy with a phd (Classics, I think) who was a socialist (back then before being a socialist was cool) and he had inherited some money from some relative. It wasn't a fortune, but it was enough to pay himself a stipend that would support a modest middle class lifestyle indefinitely. So he retired and did nothing in particular. I was not at all jealous of his lifestyle choices.

I met another guy working the bar at a hostel in Guatemala who'd been bumming around the country for the last 6 months and was stuck in this one town for the last 3 weeks because he had no money to move on with. I met a lot of young first world bums on that trip, in fact. The women generally seemed to have a plan (e.g., travel all summer and then start college in the fall), and many of the men, but the ones with no plan were all men. I guess you can say those guys weren't on a sabbatical, because a sabbatical implies that you'll come back and work at some point.

Btw, while I'm on the subject, if you want to go to college for the experience of going to frat parties, getting drunk, doing drugs, doing dumb crap with friends, having irresponsible sex, etc, don't spend all that money on a college. Go do the hostel circuit in Central America. You'll miss out on football games, but otherwise get the same experience for a tiny fraction of the cost.

You raise an extremely important point. The main reason is sexual dimorphism - ie, men and women are different mentally and physically.

In short, one gender has been built over 100,000 years to be the workhorse; the other hasn't. The results can be seen in the example you cite.

Of course, this realty clashes with the egalitarian mindset, which holds that every one is the same (which is clearly not true).

I think we will see more and more of this, where thoughts about "equality" run smack dab into the wall of very real gender differences.

Hopefully, the hypocrisy of the egalitarian POV will be pointed out along the way.
