the guy is holding out for a 2 year $4.5 million deal....from pittsburgh. i know there was the incident in the offseason but this guy is far too talented to let go that cheap. opinions?
I'd take him for that and he might be willing to sign with a contender for a tad less - plus no state income tax for half your games (I think?).
Exactly. The time has come to give Dotel a more shining spot. It'd be nice to have Urbina as insurance, but if he wants to close, then Houston's not the place for him, until we see how Dotel does.
If he agreed to setup for Braden Looper, I think he will setup for Dotel. He is too greedy for Drayton's checkbook most likely, but if he agreed to setup he is a nice addition to our bullpen. Cl- Dotel Setup- Urbina Setup- Lidge Setup- Miceli Situational- Stone Situational- Gallo Long Relief- Duckworth The only downside to signing Urbina would be that we would have to drop yet another person off of the 40 man roster. We have already had to drop Stanley, Rosario, Bland, Puffer, and Porter from the 40 man and I don't see too many more that we can afford to drop.
Wasn't he traded to Fla? I don't think he necessarily agreed to be the setup guy there. Besides, he has said he wants somewhere in the $7 mil range. That's ridiculous for a setup guy. He'll go to Pittsburgh with the hoped that he'll be traded again to a contender by July.
I believe his contract had a no trade clause that he waived knowing that he would become the setup man in Florida. He is dreaming if he thinks he is going to get 7 million from anyone.
