The warriors go out of their way to become an unlikable team.Like I have no issue rooting for most of the other teams in the playoffs but this warriors team is obnoxious. 1. Steve Kerr's smug face. His passive aggressiveness. His subtle jabs/comments in the media. like when he said they would have won in 5 if iggy played. Here's the rational explanation: It's an interesting debate that we will never get an answer to. The Warriors lost Game 4 95-92 and Game 5 98-94 without Iguodala, but then the Rockets went down 115-86 in Game 6 and 101-92 in Game 7 without Paul while Iguodala was still sidelined. Maybe Paul's presence means more in the Game 6 and 7 losses than Iguodala's would have meant in Games 4 and 5, but we will never find out. 2. Draymond green's antics. No other player gets away with it. Players are T'ed up for asking where's the foul..while Draymond is cursing the officials out. 3. Curry. The mouthpiece. The celebrations. Behaviors like signing "13" to indicate Harden while trying an idiotic looking step-back. Mocking the referees recently. 4. Durant. Thanks for adding to this instead of competing elsewhere. 5. The never ending luck they have. First finding all star players in the draft. Then benefiting from the cap increase to sign Durant. Then their cake walk to the finals due to opponents getting injured in the playoffs...
I would not say finding all-stars in the draft was luck - it was good prep on their part and then player development afterwards. They were lucky though in this way: 1) David Lee's injury forced Kerr to start Draymond and it payed off in huge ways. If Lee was not hurt it he would have been the starter as the all-star on the team. 2) the cap hike to sign Durant of course. 3) injuries to their opponents in the playoffs in finals. Each team benefits in their own way but the Warriors definitely had more than their fair share outside of 2017.
Lets not forget their trade with the Bucks, in which The Bucks had a choice between Monta or stephanie. The Bucks chose Monta and the rest is history.
It's not just the team but how the media and casual fans react to them, too. Sports Illustrated naming the entire team as Sportsperson of the Year, all the crowing about how they're the "family values team" and how classy they are, hyping up how they "play the right way" while at the same time they're employing thugs like Bogut, Zaza, and Draymond to injure other players, constantly setting moving screens and daring the refs to stop the game, pretty much all of Draymond, Durant, and Curry's various forms of crap, etc. The only guy on the team that's somewhat likable is Klay, who just seems like he wants to keep quiet and play some basketball.
Mainly Kerr's smugness in my opinion. He's not a great coach, he walked into a great system that had already been built and then lucked out and got Durant. There have been plenty of series over this run that they won by pure talent and nothing to do with coaching. I don't think he would be successful anywhere else honestly.
People only hate Curry and Kerr because they win so much. Nobody would care about how smug they are (and they are definately smug af) if they weren't a title threat. Durant and Green, yeah f**k them, but all the other things we hate about them are directly a result of winning and the slurpfest that comes with it.
For me 90% is the Durant signing. If they were winning championships with their original core I'd have no problem with them.
Completely baseless opinions here. I don't get why people always deploy irrational arguments like this in Golden State's favor. "Yeah, all of the negative stuff about them is true, but it wouldn't be true, if..."
If they weren't winning you wouldn't care. People hate the Yankees because they win, they hate the Patriots because they win, a lot of people hate Harden because he beats them. Winning breeds contempt. How many perennial powerhouses have been well liked?
lol curry and kerr are attention seeking divas. They( Curry especially) wants everybody to treat him like lebron and talk about him 24/7 lol. Dude will literally do and say anything to get any kind of clout
I mean people are starting to hate on Giannis over here and he might be one of the nicest superstars we've ever had. Just look at his BJ bell twitter video lol. On topic, I used to really only hate Draymond and Bogut cause they were dirty as hell on top of being grade A douchebags. Kevin Durant changed everything though. That guy is just the worst. THE WORST.
Cause they have the refs coming off the bench and still whine... have a guy injured and act like they don't have a couple MVP's and a slew of all stars, have all the luck with the basketball gods with injuries to teams they play, the media likes to play that they are immortal.. can flip a switch, bored... never giving credit to the other team. Draymond Greens horse face
They also got a break in the first Steph resigning. His ankles were still pretty questionable so they basically signed Steph Curry to a bargain basement deal when he was still considered damaged goods, while going on to win multiple MVPs in the process. This was the first domino that fell on the road to their current dynasty.
