With this last game, I have really grown to love the group of guys we have now. However, DM the GM has said a trade will happen this off season. Which three players do you most want to be in a Rocket uniform next year? (Assume Yao and Kevin Martin are guaranteed to stay) Mine: 1. Luis Scola 2. Aaron Brooks 3. Chuck Hayes
I don't think this team should have anyone that is untouchable. What ever helps us improve the most I am all for it.. I would be sad to see Scola go though, I think he is one of the most hard working players in the league...
Brooks, Scola, and Hill are my top three I guess, but I also picked Lowry and Budinger before I saw that it's supposed to be just three. The only guys I don't really want to see back even though I like them okay are Andersen and Chuck. Well, and Armstrong, but he doesn't count... I just don't want them taking minutes from Hill and our drafted PF/C once Yao gets back.
I dont want to trade Scola/Hill for any other PFs. Scola/Hill is a championship quality PF combo at very good value (especially if Scola signs for 8 mil or less). I would like to see one of our SFs moved for either a backup C or a combo guard though. Maybe something like Battier(expiring) + our 14th pick for 5-8th pick + salary dump player, then draft a quality combo guard or C with the pick. Also, we have Jeffries and Andersen. Two very situational type of big men. Don't know how they'll figure into the equation next year. Jeffries could probably take over the Hayes role, but Andersen could be gone unless he makes great strides during the offseason. In which case our backup C problem would be solved, and we can focus on getting a combo guard in case one of Brooks/Lowry/Martin gets injured.
If Budinger is traded in the offseason, i think i would have to give up being a fan of the Rockets. This guy is something special.
I would be most Heartbroken if the following in order left: 1. Luis Scola 2. Aaron Brooks 3. Chuck Hayes 4. Kyle Lowry 5. Chase Budinger
REALLY tough question... 1) Scola 2) Hill 3) Lowry I've been convinced that Scola/Hill can be just fine at the power forward position and Lowry is an ideal backup point.
