When 100% of what a head coach brings to the table is coaching offense, and they can't do anything without an elite QB, you have to question why you'd want to stick with that head coach would you not?

Two playoff appearances with no QB. This argument doesn't stick.

There are going to be some interesting names available.

If the Texans want to take a risk with high upside, they they should consider Jim Bob Cooter, Dave Toub or Mike Patricia.

Those playoff appearances were nearly 100% due to having one of the best defenses in the NFL, something BOB had nothing to do with....so that argument doesn't stick.

So why doesn't the offense being number one not stick? Sure Deshaun is the reason for that, but the offense is the offense that is coached by BoB.

You can't give the defense credit as a whole and not the offense. I could argue JJ was the reason for dominance one year, and Whitney/JD the other.

You are just giving Deshaun credit. Weird style of argumenting going on here.

A guy who could get career years out of the trash that was Fitzy, Hoyer, Brock because no one else has been able to. Also a guy who could lead the league in offense with a great rookie qb because very few have been able to do that too. But whoever that is, don't let them make personal decisions. Need a competent GM to do that.

BoB did a great job in changing up his scheme for Watson and playing to his strengths. But wouldn't that also be the biggest criteria/requirement for any new hire? If the BoB-Watson relationship is the deciding factor in whatever decision is made, it would be hard to argue against that. But I don't think a change in HC necessarily means there would be a big change in scheme. Hell there may not be any change if the next OC just runs Clemson's plays like BoB did.

    Fire?

    You guys are funny

    Don’t follow team much?

Him quitting maybe more likely but he may want to work with Watson just a bit more

Yeah......besides Vermeil, retreads don't work if they have been out of the league 10 years. Proven winners.....in a different league.

Don't know if true but read Kubiak wants to come back to the nfl as an OC ? How would you all feel now that he has a SB pedigree ? (as OC not head coach)

Sumlin ,hell naw ... have you guys watched many aggie games the last few years ?

Okay boobythegreat, let me try to disprove your way of thinking. so u r saying bob did nothing to earn the division crown and the defense already built carry him is that correct?
Imagine this before Kerr became a headcoach of Warriors Mark Jackson was da Head coach, he was fired because of his playoff results, then kerr came in and somehow got a ring his first year while Mark Jackson failed, even though they both had the same players. It must b da players right? Kubiak got fired because of the same defense that u claim 'carried' Bob to playoffs, sooooo bob must b pretty shtty huh.

Not advocating a new head coach yet cause I like the chemistry between watson and BOB.

It's a mixed situation for me. Since he's been here B.O.B has always butchered crucial moments of a football game with boneheaded mistakes any 14 year old with a supernes would have figured out. Then, he had watson and veered away from the brady gq playbook and created something smoother and one of the most elite offenses this year's nfl had seen. You can say that's all Watson and you would be right but the QB also needs the coach to be on the train. Imagine Watson with Jeff fisher. Ouch.

If we'd go in a new direction, I'd look for someone under Pete Carroll or andy reid, open minded.

Not a fan of O'Brien. As much by his personality as his errors on the field. He seems to have adopted the Bill Belichick to dealing with the media. Beli gets away with it because of his record of success. BoB doesn't have that record and so he just comes off looking like a dick.

Interesting part of the Reid coaching tree is his defensive coaches have had a lot more success than his offensive guys. Outside of Doug Pederson, Brad Childress and Pat Shurmer have been the only other offensive guys to get head coaching jobs. Wonder how much that has to do with Andy keeping play calling duties all these years.

One name I think we should keep an eye on is Matt LaFleur, current OC of the Rams. Has some Texan ties as an offensive assistant under Kubiak. Was also the QB coach for RGIII and Kirk Cousins at Washington and Matt Ryan last season. This is his first year as OC but him and McVay have Goff and the Rams rolling.

Quick question for those thinking BoB will/should be back, do you expect any changes to the coaching staff?

Watson looked TOO DAMN GOOD in the BoB offense. You CANNOT **** with that mojo. Even if you think he sucks as a HC, you cant fire O'Brien yet. Young QB's are too fragile. What Watson was doing was too MAGICAL.
