it's why i have transitioned to mostly vegetarian this year. for me there are plenty of things to enjoy in life to where i do not have to eat meat. one being my 5 year old son, i'd like to see him grow up and be there for him when he needs me.

Show me something that doesn't supposedly cause cancer, and I'll show you something that eventually will supposedly cause cancer.

Grilling and frying food probably leads to cancer too. Not gonna stop doing either.

    OMG!!

    All the poor cats!!!

    Cats are meat-eaters only!

How have the cats survived all this time without being wiped out by the cancerz??

Yes I know 'cured and processed', but they also implicate 'red meat'.

Come to think of it, how has ANY predator species not died off due to the being all cancer-filled?

Maybe they are just talking about how some meats are processed - I doubt I would live too long if all I ate was bologna or Spam or dollar-store hot dogs.. but let's just go ahead and try to scare everybody anyway, because, well, Americans are too fat! And other people in the world are too skinny, and it's just not fair!

I understand what you are saying but even avoiding everything bad for you and doing only good things for your body doesn't exempt anyone from premature death.

But my prayer for you is that you live long and get to see many grandchildren and even great grandchildren.

I've massively cut back on the amount of meat I consume but veganism ain't in the cards for me.

Starting now, the meat industry will have a permanent public tantrum.

    Yeah ... it gets worse:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">High-temperature meat cooking methods generate compounds that may contribute to carcinogenic risk - their role is not yet fully understood</p>&mdash; WHO (@WHO) <a href="https://twitter.com/WHO/status/658637162376790016">October 26, 2015</a></blockquote>
    <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

To be fair, they're not implying that everyone should eliminate these things from their diet. But certainly cut back drastically for the sake of your health, especially if you eat a lot of it. So much for you pepperoni pizza lovers.

WHO says even those should be limited. Too much red meat linked to cancer in 3 out of 100,000 subjects in a study.

    1. How do you know there isn't a statistically significant rate of cancer deaths in cats?
    2. The WHO makes it clear this risk is in humans. Humans != cats.
    3. WHO says no data available on the question of whether raw meat is safer than cooked meat, cancer-wise.

As always the answer is moderation and eating a varied diet.

I've been cutting back on my meat consumption both for health and environmental reasons. It takes a lot of resources to make meat especially red meat. I think as long as you are eating a lot of fiber and anti-oxidants the occasional bacon and hot dog isn't going to do much damage.

Interesting how they spin the pro-meat pundits' comments.
