My bank called me after I got home from work this evening. My paycheck bounced. That's now the third time it's happened (both previous times were rectified within 24 hours). My bank informs me that the check bounced because my company's bank has closed its account due to rubber checks stacking up. Then my bank informs me that they're closing MY account thanks to these *****' failure to pay me. I'm a Web content manager for a deal-of-the-day site modeled after Woot. In the nine months I've worked for this guy, I've not taken a single day off and delivered top-notch copy each and every day (including weekends), moderated the site's message board, handled the social media output, and dealt with pissed-off customers wondering why they can't get a ****ing tracking number for the items they ordered a month ago. The health insurance that was agreed to during my hiring has never materialized. Twice, I arrived at work to find that we'd been locked out of our office because my boss failed to pay rent. Thank God for friends. A buddy of mine took me out for drinks tonight to commiserate. Unemployment is a b****, but I'm great at my job and I'll get another one. When I got home, my girlfriend's ****ing chihuahua had pissed all over my side of the bed. **** what a Thursday. Luckily, I've got tickets to watch the Rockets kick the hell out of the Bobcats on Friday before I have drinks with the heads of a company I just completed a small marketing contract with. Thankfully, I have a few grand saved up, so I'm not starving. If anybody needs any sort of copy written, from press releases to Web content to advertising copy, let me know and I'll give you a hell of a deal. Awful day, man. How was yours?
Whelp I turned out some mediocre copy, sat back and relaxed as my salary and benefits continued to flow. Mwuahahaha. Curious though, what sale-a-day site?
Lol. I just asked because the company sounded like it was ran by a former friend of mine. At any rate, I hope everything works out for you man. Like they say...when God shuts a door, He opens a window.
Oddly enough, my common-law slampiece received a raise today. Not enough to cover the rent, of course, but a raise is a raise. You're okay, Robert Del Grande.
Sort of similar. My checks werent bouncing but my boss never gave us the raises we were promised and a lot of the benefits that we were promised never materialized. I was working as an opposition researcher in politics till I quit. Fortunately just got hired by Bill White's campaign to do the same thing.
You guys need some press releases? Perhaps detailing Bill White's positions on mar1juana legalization?
