This topic was inspired by my recent act to simulate (sort of) other poster's posting style (hehe..see Manny's tournament). I'm interested to see how people relate their own personality/experience to other posters & how they have evolved as a poster on this BBS. I'll start by discussing my experience:

    The Begining

When I first joined this BBS I considered myself a newbie basher (hehe... perhaps a samfisher/R2K type :D ). Looking back, I was surprised how in the hell I managed to pull it off when I was considered a newbie myself :p. Back in the old days RIET even commented that I was acting like a king in the GARM & some posters laughs at me at the way I bash the newbies when I'm one too. I can't describe how much fun I had when bashing one these new guys whenver they make a mistake or starting a stupid thread, by bashing them I certainly felt like I'm contributing to the BBS right away. The only bashing (a slight one) I ever received as a newbie was from don grahamleone (in my All-Star thread), yes I still remember hehe, whom I already had my revenge & bashing the hell out of him (hehe..., not surprisingly I have much more posts/higher status) in another BBS where he is also a member. No disrespect Don, you know I love you! :D

    The longwinded-post period

Well, well, this is the period where I started my 'MacBeth style' longwinded posts :p . I must say deep down I'm a sentimental type just like MacB (Even though I can't write half as well as him hehe), & is not ashamed/afraid of expressing my true feelings. I'm sure a lot of you remembered my sentimental thread describing my 400 post experience & my longwinded story about my relationship with my ex. I was really touched by the large amount of sincere replies/suggestions from many posters regarding my situation, & truely felt that I have blend well with the BBS community. Good times!

    Pic posting period

This must be the period where others perceive me as a pic posting specialist, largely because I'm the first person to post an YoYao 'animated gif' pic in the handout forum. Honestly it's really fun & enjoyable to see my work appreciated by many here. During this period I identified myself with other great pic posting buddies such as OmegaSupreme, AntiSonic, Rockets2K, Mr. Mooch ...etc. Absolutely the best experience I ever had on this BBS, no questions asked -- Even now I still value these buddies so much that I'll do the best within my power to bail them out of any kind of trouble or show my support for them whenever possible ;). Great times! Great guys!

    Post pic posting period

Yeah, I must say I'm surprised to see many posters could went from pro-yoyao to anti-yoyao pic posting attitude in such a short time. What I'm refering is the pic posting part -- where the pics are done & posted by pic posters -- not the celebrity himself (who was initially a victim & has been considered a good sport -allowing others making fun of him). Honestly, I believe if someone expressed enough displeasure regarding the pic posting/don't think it's funny anymore, I'm sure the pic posting trend would have stopped in no-time (No interest=No product). Simple.

However, that didn't happen until the famous guy himself made some costly mistakes which ruined his reputation & his chance of coming back. And in short period of time, a lot of things happened which caused me starting the longest thread in the history of the feedback forum. Sigh, let's not get into that... Since then, I started looking for fun somewhere else & found one in sarcasm posting. During which I identified myself with posters such as A-Train, SJC, RIET, B-Bob etc. The reason? Simple. I come to the BBS to have some fun & these guys are funny. As a result, I started few sarcasm posts myself. :D

    Feedback boy

Many of you must have noticed that I've been a feedback forum geek lately. One of the major reason is due to my disappointment about the huge amount of insults, bashing, low-quality discussions that's been going around in all forums. I recalled back in the old days when I was posting like crazy & have guys like Oski calling me out that I averaged more posts per day than anyone else. Well, that's no longer the case. I don't know, in the past I used to bash the hell out of the newbies, now I don't do it any more. I guess after a few months here, I started to have feelings/bonds for this place thus wants it to be good, wants it to be well. I started to urge people treating others nicely & proposed various solutions in an attempt to higher the quality of the site. Man, deep down, I know I have to try something before I eventually give up posting -- before following the route like a number of other well known posters. I sincerely wish that's not the case. I know I want to be here. I was hoping there are others sharing my sentiments too. Fortunately I was not alone, MacBeth is still around & I know he won't let me down. :)

    The new trend

Well, I'm sure some of you guys have seen what I have done in Manny's best poster tournaments ;) . Am I going to continue such pompous/abrasive posting (e.g. a Trader_Jorge style)? Well, I can safely tell you that it's only happening for fun or me trying to prove a certain point. If I'm going to do it again, I can safely tell you my next try will be a Manny Ramirez style (hehe... one of my favorites). So guys, consider yourself warned. ;)

Time is certainly flying fast, let me wish all of you:

MARRY XMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)

Damn, I just regressed back to the longwinded-post period again. Sigh.

I don't know that I ever really emulated any particular poster. I do know that I have always tried to infuse as much humor into my posts as I can (unless it is a pure basketball discussion post, which doesn't happen very often anymore). I think partly it's because I can tell from reading the BBS that I don't have anything particularly unique to offer as far as my life experiences or advice, etc. so I just try to be funny, to varying degrees of success. If I had to choose one poster that I wish I could post like, I think it would be B-Bob...because he's a funny mofo, in so many words.

    Cool thread! :)

1998- My rookie year I made all the classic newbie mistakes. Started pointless threads, picked a stupid fight with Almu, and other such tomfoolery. Luckily, the lockout gave me some time to become more refined and I had a relevant user name at the time that probably influenced people to be nicer and more patient with such a juvenile de-linkity-wink. ;)

1999- I was the consummate homer, and the Big 3 could do no wrong. Funnest basketball season I've been through here as the Rocks actually made the playoffs.

2000- Post-Pippen there were two camps: the "let Steve and Shandon run the offense" and the "Barkley/Olajuwon" loyalists. I was a member of the latter. Sadly Barkley went down, but Shandon Anderson never amounted to much anyway. :p :p :p

2001: Did not post from 12/00-8(?)/01 due to my computer being smashed.

2002: Became disillusioned troll after Hakeem got traded. This led to Yao-resentment(though he quickly made a believer out of me) and Rockets-hating. Spent less and less time in GARM and started becoming more of a Hangout guy.

2003: GARM posting from me non-existent by now. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Summer of YoYao. Best time I've ever had here. Since then, I've been neutered and exposed as a one-trick pony. :(
    ----------------------

While there are about a dozen posters that I strongly identify with, my style isn't really similar to theirs.

I guess you could call me a poor(or homeless) man's A-Train now, but I just don't have anywhere near the amount of quantity and quality of one-liners he does.

Moe, I don¡¦t know if your are labelling me in this thread as ¡§a moron with amnesia¡¨ or not. If you are not, then you can disregard the rest of this post; however if you ARE doing that, let me tell you something:

Yes, I will gladly admit that I have some kind of amnesia symptom, but a MORON??? Dude, you need to get a ****king clue. ME a moron? LOL

Granted that you are only 19 years old and it looks like you are on some kind of amnesia yourself, let me tell you something Moe, I only decided to respond to you because like I said numerous time, I like you or I did like you -- you are exactly like me 10 years ago. If I didn¡¦t, I would have not responded. And if you don¡¦t cease and desist your b****ing, Moe, I¡¦ll have no choice but to put you on my ignore list.

    [Manny Ramirez]

    Just testing my arsenals... :p

    did i spell that right?

Anyhoo. I think I write some short posts, and short sentences.

I skip every single line it seems like.

I don't know why I start new paragraphs so often.

Not Bad... I think it's a little more like this -

    [Manny]

CRC - I really didn't want things to come to this, but I feel i need to call you out for the sake of my own personal sanity. I mean I don't really know where all this is coming from? first you called me a moron, LOL, thats not really the way to go there ....mmmmkay? YOU WERE THE ONE who came at me with all this talk about Turning MY POSTER TOURNEY into some w****-judging contest and I know myself, Clutch and other members of this BBS like Behad and DoD would back me up on this.

...Then you tell ME to calm down? I WOULD calm down if you wouldn't have made such a ****ing IDIOT of yourself by calling me out like that. You are messing with the wrong guy here Jabroni, mmmmmmkayyyyyyyyyyyyyy?

I Don't give a ****ING FART ABOUT you and your YoYao fetish. That was a childish thing to me and I never found it funny in the first place, and the mods obviously didn't either.

I mean I think you are a nice guy and I like most of your posts, but I wouldn't feel like a geniune alpha-male if I didn't call your jabroni-ass out on this.Again, I'm sorry if this offends you, It is normally my style to confront people aggresivley, but you better just ****ing back the **** off jabroni.

    [Manny}
