I actually think Lin's strengths are similar to Tony Parker. Not much of a 3-pt shot but a good midrange shooter (although Lin doesn't take them that much in the Rockets offense). Deceptively quick, can blow by defenders. Lin can't finish at the rim like Parker can though.

ah. sucks. i cant change to poll

    here are the choices

    1. A pass first Derrick Rose with better BB IQ

    2. A younger more athletic Tony Parker

    3. A more athletic John Stockton without the jump shot

    4. A stronger more athletic Steve Nash

    5. A right handed Asian taller Moochie Norris

Tony Parker (is that who he picks up the habit of leaving his feet when passing from?). I feel like Lin's passing skills could eventually be closer to Nash's, but at this point I don't see him shooting as well as Nash does anytime soon.

I think Lin has better court vision and passing ability than Parker ever had. I would say he is similar to him in terms of scoring, but not overall.

I would say he is a lot like Kyle Lowry to be honest. Lowry had similar strengths and weaknesses to him when he was younger. Lowry lacked a jump shot similar to Lin currently does. It's why the Grizzlies picked Conley over him and traded him to Houston.

    He plays nothing like Lowry.

His style is similar to Tony Parkers but he isn't nearly as fast or effective.

actually, it's common for some people to compare a virtually rookie to the finished product veterans and said hey, he's not quick enough, shooting's bad, or some stars- speed/or anything. lets be frank, some qualities and talents won't change throughout your career, like court vision, but some did change throughout time, some would be better in general, like shooting, ppg, apg and some will fall, first step quickness, overall athleticism. It's not his fault to get 8.3 mil/yr after like 30 something meaningful games and automatically have to play at the same level as those stars. But, Les will get the return, so it's not fans' abused excuse obviously.

    3-pt %
    LBJ: 1st year - first 3,122 mins 29.0%
    Kobe: 1st 6 years - first 13,425 mins 31.4%
    Kidd: 1st year - first 2,668mins 27.2%
    Lin 3rd year - first 2173 mins 29.0%

Mind you, nobody expects him to be that caliber comparing to those HOF, GOAT, but just a reminder for player did grow. How about Lowry, people moaning the loss of him, while we all know he can't shoot earlier days, he turned out to be fringe all-star too. In case you want him to be here, would you like to have a 32 years old pg declining when you are actual contending or you'd rather have a raw talent peaking at 27 years old and be a useful component for contending? at least, the other teammates are also young too. Thats why Knicks is justified in a sense to get Felton and Kidd cause they need success right now(it's still tricky to tell the are real contender or not, but wfc). If Lin turned out to be a bust, he would be traded in 2nd year as an expiring contract, all good news to Houston anyway. ;)

Hmm... I agree that he's not as effective as Parker (yet) but Lin is very fast though. IMO he's on par or even slightly faster than Parker.

Historically, maybe Kevin Johnson. Interesting, KJ never quite had a 3 ball either
