Bailey, you just get here, and your friends on this BBS will take care of the "things to do".;)

You just may have to write a book about it or do a BBC documentary when you return to England!

Are the strip clubs in Houston nice? I know the ones in Memphis suck donkey dong.

Definitely check out the Warwick. Beautiful hotel, very pretty part of town. Easy walking distance to just about any/all the main museums (Menil, CAM, MFA, Natural Science) and some great restaurants as well. $10 cab ride to downtown.

As a general rule, you DO NOT want to spend 8-9 days here paying for cab fares - you'll go broke REAL quick.

    Rent a car.

If you know you'll be going on a bender though, then take the cab, as spending a night in jail is not worth it.

Haven't you guys noticed there is something a little bit different about the Hotel Derek? Like the 'Derek" isn't spelled like an oil derrick but more like somebody's leather studded boyfriend? And it's just a little too fabulous.

For 8 or 9 days in Houston you have to have a rental car. Every time you want to go anywhere you will need it. (besides we need more visitors to the city so we can tax the crap out of them to pay for our pleasure palaces.)

Culture in Houston? The De Menil, The Rothko Chapel...... well that kills one afternoon.

Nightlife? Be sure to get a big stack of $1 bills at the money exchange. If your not staying at the Hotel Dereck, you're in for hours of scintillating entertainment.

Shopping? Is there something you need they don't have at
    Harrod's?

But come on anyway, It's entirely possible it will be a gorgeous 70 degree day ( if we're not having an ice storm)

Good call Buck. I haven't been inside since they finished renovating it, but I heard it turned out great. If Bailey can get a good rate, it would be a great hotel choice.

A lot of you guys need to understand that there probably isn't a hotel in town that Bailey would find expensive. Compared to other large cities in the country, Houston's luxury hotels are ridiculously cheap (i.e. you can a night at Hotel Derek for $99 on a weekend). London hotels, on the other hand, are freakishly expensive. If i remember correctly, a night at the Sheraton Park Tower in the Knightsbridge area of London runs for about 200 pounds a night ($300).
