What was that arcade go cart and I think putt putt place with the big castle near 610? There was a Foleys nearby.
Is the Putt Putt, batting cages, and arcade still open on NASA Road One? I recall the owner was a coach at Clear Lake Intermediate School....forget his name (Coach Sawyer?). We rolled into that arcade one time in the mid-80s and this guy with us was smoking a doobie just out in the open. It was hilarious as he was so stoned he just didn’t care. LOL
It’s still there. It’s much bigger and has evolved to have all sorts of things for kids to do. Not much in the way of a traditional arcade, more of a chuck-e-cheese on steroids.
That place was pretty intimidating on a Friday or Saturday night back in the day. Lots of shady characters.
I wasn't very good at the 80s arcades like Pacman or Galaga but I loved Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat. My favorite was the 2 TMNT 4 player arcades and the 4 player X-men game. Those things were sick when all four players were used.....hell I just bought this bad boy for myself..... Also loved those old school button mashers like Final Fight and Double Dragon before it.....
I can't even remember all the games I used to play back as a kid. But I remember playing Phoenix, 1492 (being able to execute a loop thus avoiding all of the bullets was so satisfying) and dig dug. When they came out with arcade cabinets that you could sit in and play the game that was like the ultimate.
I like 1942. It’s the sequel to 1492, except instead of Columbus catching natives with his Enslavement and maiming guns, it’s a plane fighting the Japanese in the Pacific.
My first hand held was epoch man. Think my parents were cheap. But I sure did have fun. My first hand held play was the football game. And that was awesome. Like, I can still remember exactly where I was when I played it and it was spectacular.
My first arcade game was no doubt Depth Charge, and I played in what amounted to a make shift arcade I remember it clearly. Memorable moments included seeing Joust in my 7-11, and seeing Q'bert in a pizza restaurant. I was like whoa, I want that.
House of the Dead - used to play at the arcade on UH campus as a freshman Dungeons and Dragons? - This one had 6 player setup, played at an arcade in the late 90s and they had a special where for like $15 you could play all day. So no coins when you died just hit start and keep going. Sweet.
