I've not been kind to Dubón's game in the past. I still am not enamored with his CF play relative to Meyers. That said, this is by far the longest stretch of great hitting in his career. It isn't being fueled by just getting the oh so sweet PAs against LHPs either. He's hitting RHPs as well with mediocre power (better than none) and he's drawing walks. I expect some regression, but is Dubón becoming a legit hitter?
I think he’s making the most of his skillset. This isn’t luck. For one thing, he’s hit at this level before (2020 was a weird year, but he also hit this well in 2019). Last year he had bad luck and was excess on the Giants so Houston bought low. Hes an excellent 9th or 10th position player, a nearly league average bat who plays up because of a low k rate and a lot of defensive value.
Dubon is an excellent utility guy who can give you spot starts at multiple positions. What he isn't is a starting center fielder
I agree. Especially considering how he did an excellent job holding the fort for Altuve when was injured. He did as good of a job as anyone could have realistically asked for.
