If we knew 2018 DK was what we would get for years to come, then deciding what he is worth to us would be so much easier. But we dont. No one can. As far as easy replacement goes, it depends on what you expect. Many expect him to decline. What we dont know is how fast that decline will materialize. If 2 years from now, he is a 90-95 ERA+ type pitcher, that wouldn't be too hard to replace, would it? (he was a ERA+ 86 in 2016, 108 for 2018). https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/k/keuchda01.shtml
Not knowing what 90 era+ means makes it tough to comment We don’t know what anyone will do moving forward obviously We do know we have a huge number of high quality innings to replace though
I feel like this entire thread and its discussion is an exact replica of the off-season thread. Not sure why it was necessary
Dallas’ GB% dropped significantly last year—almost the lowest of his career. His K/9 also dropped to his lowest rate since 2015. While he was able to keep his ERA down to 3.74 last year, as you mention, that ballooned from the 2.90 of the previous season. His BABIP was also the highest it’s been since 2016. Dallas is a ground ball pitcher that is giving up more hits, getting less ground balls, and getting less strikeouts. I think our defense has been a huge reason for an ERA south of 4.00. He is also in his age 31 season. None of this bodes well for his value.
Polls give us a quick sense of the board as a whole. Where people decide to do the talking doesn’t matter to me.
Didn’t need a poll to know you think our pitching is fine and we need another bat Adding threads doesn’t do much other than let everyone post their same thoughts multiple times
You’re welcome. And thank you for going above and beyond to tell me you don’t like me on the internet buddy.
I don’t dislike you, I have never met you and don’t know who you are. I have also said many times I hope you are right about our pitching being fine. I do disagree with your views on the team, and it is entertaining to me to read some of them, but that doesn’t mean that I dislike someone I’ve never met
It’s humorous to me the way people discount an internet encounter. You and I can talk to one another all day long for days on end, and then you say that we’ve never met. How many of the people that you live or work around do you have this much conversation with on a daily basis? I’d dare say I probably know some things about you that even your family members do not know. So yeah, I think there is enough evidence to say whether you like someone or not. As for you, I’d just wished your comments were less wordy and more meaningful. LOL!! Kidding aside, we just disagree on Keuchel’s value. Other than that there is likely common ground elsewhere.
Na there’s nothing I post in here my family doesn’t know, we are huge sports fans Sorry my words are meaningless Sure hope replacing Keuchels 200+ quality innings is equally meaningless
I hope you got my intended humor there. I consider you lucky to have a family of sports fans. None of my family members care a lick about sports.
This forum seems to have gotten filled with people that seem to just want to start fights for the sake of it. There is nothing in this thread that was worthy of the b****-fest in the last many posts.
Agreed. I’m just tired of the guy jumping all over me when he doesn’t agree with me posts. Sorry you guys had to read all that.
Problem with the internet is there is no tone I certainly haven’t tried to start a fight if that’s aimed towards me, just stated an opinion on Harper/Springer and Correa and it was turned back into a Keuchel argument. Maybe I should apologize the to poor guy since he certainly seems to have been offended
So sorry man, did not mean to offend you and your views on the Astros I’m really sorry I hurt your feelings I will promise now to not reply to any more of your comments Have a good day
