I am about to buy a camera, I want one that fits into my pocket but I want it to take good pictures at the games(football & Basketball) and on vacations. I have a Sony cyber-shot dsc-p100 but the pictures suck if anybody is moving. I keep hearing that Canon is the best but after seeing some your guys pics I thought I would see what everybody thinks.
    Thanks in advance

I test a lot of digital cameras and I can say personally I like the higher end Cybershots the best. The T100 black or red is a personal favorite. I think its 8.1 MP.

You have to say how much you are willing to spend before we can give you a good answer.

    no, its a cybershot.

I don't like Canon very much, they have lousy customer service. I see a ****load of their cameras come back with lens retraction errors.

I was thinking about getting a Canon SD1000. Is the ISO (image stabilization) on it any good? Which compact camera generally has the best ISO?

It isn't bad i'll say that much. If you are going to spend 500 just go for an SLR.

I bought the Sony W90 a couple of months ago and really like it. Its small but takes really good pictures. It has this facial recognition feature that automatically focuses on people faces that really makes for good photo's. I think I paid $300 for it, plus the memory card slides right into my PS3 to view the pics on the big screen.

dont be fooled by Canons stupid way of naming models. The SD700IS is actually a higher end model than the SD1000. dude the SD1000 doesn't have image stabilization. ISO refers to something else. if a Canon camera has image stabilization it will have IS next to it.

BTW, for your money the SD700 IS is the best money can buy in terms of value and performance

Yea, I know. It was just that the SD1000 have been dropping in price since the SD850 IS is out. I can get the SD1000 for about $210 after tax and shipped from online retailers. It just seemed for that price, the SD1000 might be worth it, instead of having to pay nearly 200 bucks more for a newer model.

Ok does any body know anything about the Panasonic FX or Nikon P.

Also is the Canon 850IS better than the 700IS. I am reading conflicting stories.

Also I would like to be able to take good indoor pics like at a club or concert.

I think Canon takes the best quality pics, I use to own a couple cybershots and the pics just don't compare especially when things are moving or taking pics at night. But like moestavern posted, I've had a lens retraction error before.

I have a SD900 right now (10MB) and the pic quality is unbelievable.

I think I have narrowed it down too.
    Canon 850IS, Canon 700IS, Sony DSC-T100

Which of these three would you buy if you want to take pics at the games with things moving, concerts, clubs and family shots in the house.

Or if there is a better camera let me know. The reason I stayed clear of the DSLR is because I want it to be able to fit in my pocket.

    Cybershots are very popular cameras.

Canons alse are very good. I was going to say focus on the lens, but you are around 500, so that limits it.

I have a Carl Zeiss lens in mine, but it is far from small.

BEST compact camera in low-light conditions is of two choices

    Fuji FinePix F30

    or

    Canon SD800 IS

These 2 are awesome camers. If the majority of your pictures will be taken indoors you will want the best low-light camera out there. I chose the F30 because it is slightly a little better in low-light but the SD800 IS has a better outdoor shot too... I can't believe the pictures I take with the F30 it so good I hardly use my Canon EOS Rebel XT.... And the Video's you can take with it is quite amazing..

Do your research on the web... Tons of info about the quality of a camera...

I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-W80 and I love it. For a "point-and-shoot", "ultra-compact" it takes fantastic photos.
