What could we even move the pick for ?

Ok , we’ve heard about this several times … the idea that if the rockets aren’t #1 or too 3 , then we would try to move the pick

well my question would be … for what ?

we have much cap space . But , not a lot of contracts to trade .

so how would moving the pick work ? It would hav to be straight up for a player ? How could we package it ? After we draft a guy can we trade them ? And how does their contract count ? Do they have one ?
    @BimaThug

Assuming we can figure out all of this what’s the value ? Would a team Willingly give us a high quality player just for a pick?

teams looking to blow it up maybe ? What sort of players can we get ?

for me , even if we got the number 1 I’d be ok trading it . I’m scared of big players and injury . Plus , in my opinion it’s ok to spread out risk . If you could trade down to 2 or 3 and get multiple other firsts I’d do it .

Could you get a higher value for it now vs after the lottery ? Has a team ever traded away a pick at the end of the season but before the lottery ?

I’d trade 4,5 or 6th pick for a future first, a couple future 2nds and a move down to no lower than 13

Ivey had a pretty rough rookie year. I wonder if Pistons would take a mulligan at #4. I’d do this deal for the Rockets.

You don't need to match contracts when you're under cap. We could trade that pick straight up for a 40 million dollar guy if we wanted to. That said I don't really know who we'd do it for. Maybe KAT? Dunno if that's even a thing.

Exactly. We have 60m in cap space. Were already insanely attractive to free agents.

Just draft Wemby, Scoot, Miller, Amen, Jarace or Hendricks in that order. Stop trying to accelerate something we've already been doing for 3 years.

Ive expanded to keeping it through top 4. Im drafting and keeping VW, Scoot, Amen or Brandon Miller unless the trade value is crazy strong.

#5 or #6 Im looking at a list of these guys. Granted it may take a bit more on a few of them but that pick should be a large chunk of the package. Im assuming we are going to try to blend a few vets around our young core and Harden to create a window the next 2-3 years.

    List in order of preference.

    Jaylen Brown
    Bridges
    Pascal Siakam
    OG Anuoby

Im probably not doing OG straight up. I‘d want something else I think.

my understanding is... with available space we dont have to do anything for salary matching - just staying under cap...
so we could theoretically trade the pick for a guy making 50M/yr without anything else required...
realistically, if the pick falls outta the top 2... i hope we package it w kpj, kmj, maybe jc or tate, maybe the clips pick, maybe future draft capital... whatever poopoo platter is needed to bring in a potential franchise guy...

Value of picks are more or less slotted.

    http://nbasense.com/draft-pick-trade-value/2/kevin-pelton-2

Trades this high usually don't happen because team don't want to give up
so many point value sum. For example multiple Firsts and Second rounders
    to equal an expected.

I doubt a team moves up to take #4, #5, or #6 unless accept a lot less.
    Upsetting the order of things

Pick a top 30 PG in the league. I'm almost at the point where I'd do that. Still half-joking for now.

People right now talk about Cam Johnson (forward) or a Brook Lopez (center). I'm not against those positions, but point guard is the first position we should be trying to fill. Folks talk about 14% to land Wemby, it's even less with Henderson 13.4%; and even then, Henderson has to get groomed.

There's an outside chance Henderson can fall from 2 due to his enigmatic season.

And the Rockets could probably move up to get him - similar to how the Texans paid a super premium to get Will Anderson.

To me, it's Wemby or bust in the draft, not sure I care what happens if we get 3, 4+.

I'm concerned about reports that the Rockets are chasing Middleton when we have 100 guards that need development. Need a better sense of what the plan is this offseason.

A top point is a priority and fortunately there are two available and we got the cap space.
