Chuck freakin hayes would have been at the level he is this year. Ok ok I know he hasn't changed that much but he is certainly more offensively aggressive and has more low post moves that he occasionally scores with. Also very important his is improved free throw shooting.

Idk guys but we were damn close to beating the jazz those 2 years and at that time the chuck wagon was just a defensive player who can hit a wide open layup 95% of the time, now he's actually a player that can give you 8-10 or so points while getting his usual rebounds and playing his stifling D.

so you guys agree or what? I think we would have beat the jazz with THIS chuckwagon, not so sure about the year when yao was hurt but especially the year when t-mac and yao took them to 7 games. 2007 i think.

You could point to a lot of different reasons we didn't win those years. Chuck's role was never to be a scorer, and I don't think what he's showing this season would have made much of a difference. But what about all the other players who disappeared in that first playoff series versus the Jazz?

The second year we didn't have Yao, and Mutombo probably should have played more.

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda... who cares. We blew several games 7 first round series with Yao and T-Mac at the helm. Time to move on people.

I didn't mean it to sound like it read. I guess this season has made me a bit cranky. You had an interesting thought, don't mind me.

4 Rockets scored in one of those playoff games. Our offense at that time was pretty much McGrady doing whatever he could do to score and distribute. Yes, Yao could not rebound in the closing minute to save his life. What I wouldn't have given to see Sura stay healthy.

I don't think he would have helped in the 1997 series with the Jazz.

I was listening to ESPN radio the other day. Matt Bullard said Chuck was actually a scorer in college. He was good at free throws, too. He only seems like he was an offensive liability because he lacks size. Also, his defense shined so much more than his offense.

If we had Kobe instead of MerGady and Shaq instead of Yao.
