    Fortson for Ward and Knight.
This can help the Knicks with their rebounding, but Charlie Ward and Travis Knight can't help Golden State, even though Fortson and Jamison haven't been able to play together.

Fortson is very overated, he's a very very "poor man's" Ben Wallace (no shot blocking, maybe half the rebounding ability) If they can get two players for one, I say do it.

Besides, they are already one of the best rebounding teams in the leauge. They can live with one less player...

The only reason they always lead the league in rebounding is because their crappy players throw up about a bazillion bricks.

Um, the Rockets throw up a bazillion bricks but we rebound like we're afraid of the ball, excepting Francis of course. Most of our players exhibit poor fundamentals on blocking out and low desire for the ball in a rebounding situation.

The difference is that GS shoots more bricks, because they don't dribble the ball around for 24 seconds. The Rockets miss 90% of their shots, but there aren't many shots to take because we turn the ball over a lot, and waste a lot of time on offense. GS doesn't waste time throwing up their bricks. That's what having Bobby Sura and Larry Hughes on the same team does to you.

When he was healthy the year before Fortson put up about 17 ppg, 17 rpg and shot about 50% from the field, how the heck is that overrated!? I'd take that every day of the week!

I thought the same thing about Fortson, that he must be pretty good. I forget if I was reading Chad Ford's or Aldridge's Chat Wrap, or was it Sean Deveney?, and one or more of these dudes had talked to coaches and players who think Fortson is good but a little overrated, that his numbers look good but are somehow inflated (can't remember the how or the why)...

I think that was the season he played approximately 12 games in, getting off to a fast start but ending up out for the rest of the year.

He can rebound the ball, but owing to his height, he's not a great low post defender, and owing to his speed, he's not a good wing defender. He's not a great scorer, either, and only scored in Golden State because of the lack of options.

The trade would still favor New York - two dead contracts for a player who can play - but it's not a lopsided deal.

Fortson is anything but overrated. I would even consider him one of the most underated players in the league. When healthy he's an automatic double double and is one of the best rebounders in the league at only 6'7. If he's a poor man's anything it's a poor man's charles barkley.

Is this a legit rumor or is this just a trade that you think sounds good? Please provide a link.

To call Fortson a poor man's Ben Wallace is wrong. Fortson is easily and equal rebounder. Wallace does play better defense (although I'm sure Yugoslavia, and Argentina would beg to differ). Fortson is also an equal scorer, although neither one has much to brag about.
