Warriors fans can finally rejoice as local radio and columnists are reporting that the sale of their team is being finalized (as the final two bidders are being notified sometime today of the winning bid). Local radio (KNBR) is reporting that it will be Larry Ellison the many times over billionaire head of Oracle. He will be by far the richest owner in the NBA when he takes over (reportedly David Stern wants the sale to go through quickly and Larry has the cash to do so- he just liquidated over 400 million dollars of his stock a few months ago). This is big news in the West since Ellison is an extremely competitive guy who wants to win badly (look at the American cup story for an example) and the Warriors will immediately have wholesale changes to their front office and coaching staff as expected. Good Bye Robert Rowell, Don Nelson and Larry Riley.....

If we get the Rockets, I'm down.
But seeing how often people disagree and bash each other on this board over their opinions, no way it'll work out haha.

I'll be sure to consider some roster moves I see on CF when I buy the Rockets from Les.

No. DaDa would just stack the team with useless Euro players that make his legs tingle. If you tried to stop him he would bore you to death with tails of video game glory and blind you with his shiny green bar.

no. league franchises are not available to just anyone to purchase. the board of governors has to approve the sale.

Wow. I'm thrilled to hear this. I have some friends in San Francisco who are die hard Warriors fans. I have always felt a great amount of pity for them. A multi-billionaire owner excited to play with his new toy may actually help them turn that franchise around.

A very good thing for them. Finally, the Warriors are going to rebound-- oh wait, Don Nelson is still coaching them. Damn.

Wow - that's good news for the franchise. Ellison has been spending some big bucks over the last year. First purchasing Sun Microsystems(through Oracle obviously) and now the Warriors. He's got a rep of being a guy who can sell anything and the Warriors have a great arena and a great fanbase so this seems like a great pairing. Plus we can now play up a battle of the northwest IT billionaires when GS plays Portland.

This reminds me of the Chinese investors who were supposed to buy a stake in the Cavs. They haven't forked over any money to Gilbert. I wonder if they're going to pull out of the deal now LeBron is gone.
