There never has really been a "relationship" between Vance and Trump.

Vance is extremely ambitious, and that comes before principle or anything else -- he will do anything to get power, and will excuse any behavior.

The same is true for Rubio, he will do and say anything so that he can gain traction in the political sphere.

Trump views both of them as tools as well, and will play them off each other -- there is no sentimentality here.

All of this is completely transactional, and Trump will ultimately destroy both of them on purpose if this regime lasts long enough.

    Something else to consider.

I am not a fan at all of the CCP.

The CCP goes against everything that I believe in.

However---- the USA now has in the last 60 days gone into two countries and removed their leaders - killing one and imprisoning another one.

There are over 30 million people in Venezuela and there are over 90 million people in Iran.

Now -- Imagine if the CCP decided to covertly go into similar sized countries, say - Australia (26 million) and the Congo (100 million) and remove the leaders of both nations, and bomb the Congo.

What would the response be in the USA and Western Europe?

Now imagine if the costs of energy went way up as a result?

This is becoming a real problem .........

Does anyone really think that an invasion of Cuba is off the table?

    What happens with Mexico? Greenland?

With all due respect... again... you are sane washing.

YES... Trump has people around him that have agendas. Many of them are invested in the US energy market, and controlling global energy. Yes.... that is the case.

However there is also Bibi who is in his ear about other motives

And MBS in his ear about other motives

And the CEO's of Lockheed, and Raytheon in his ear about other motives

And on the counter he has right wing advisors in his corner in his ear with other motives that are counter like Tucker Carlson, Steve Bannon, etc.

    .....

Why Trump is doing this is not some 5D Chess move, and MAGA supplicants should stop making themselves looks like sheep with no mind of their own by continuing to tie themselves into pretzels to excuse what he does, and sane wash his moves as 5D Chess.

With all due respect... you look like a fool

There is no coherent plan here. Trump tore up an existing agreement just simply because Obama made the deal prior, and that egotistical moronic move spiraled into what happened this weekend. He NEVER makes moves based on strategy. He only makes decisions based on in the moment gut reaction decision based on ego. Trump has been that way his entire life. He has a 50 year track record of decisions that backs that up. Trying to state otherwise is batsh$t crazy.

I am no fan of the man - or his party, but that depiction is propaganda and not from Iran.

Spoke with a guy in my company who lives and works in Dubai. He said what you're seeing is real, and that they're on Pandemic-like lockdown right now.

Russia is the worlds second largest oil exporter, this helps, not hurts them. China is an importer, but it's not going to dent their economy. Trying desperately to frame this as a win is some serious cope. China and Russia buy all their oil because they are sanctioned by the rest of the world.

Never forget that when his country called on him to serve, Trump had a doctor give him a note saying he had bad feet. Trump is not some brave warrior. He’s a coward. He’s a conman. He wants to be the dictator of the entire world.

Trump doesn’t give a damn about the Iranian people, he only cares about himself.

Trump only cares about his individual wealth and to a lesser extent the wealth of his donors and friends. He doesn't give a damn about the US economy. His allegiance to Israel and Saudi was bought long ago.

    You're arguing with yourself.

You're not directly responding to anything I wrote and instead making up a bunch of responses to things you wish I had written.

I said the Iranian regime isn't capable of inflicting high causalities on the U.S. or Europe.

I didn't make any claims about economic disruption/ability of the current administration to transfer power in Iran/I didn't say casualties would stay in the single digits. That doesn't mean they will be "high" in the context of war.

Hell, I didn't even say the U.S. would win the war.

Talk about a wandering and deluded mind.

You people are always doing this **** where you don't actually deal with what a poster said and just fire off a response responding to nothing they said.

I guess it's easy and fun to win strawman arguments?

One interesting note that I consider a strategic blunder is that Trump didn't follow what Bush did around getting the AUMF before actually striking.

The AUMF on Iraq was a pivotal vote because Bush managed to wrangle significant numbers of democrats to vote for it. The Democrats would have been stuck in a bind because if they vote against it and it's a quick and decisive war, Trump would've ended up looking really good. This is basically what happened with the Iraq AUMF. A lot of Democrats that had reservations on going into Iraq ended up voting for it because they just bet that voting for it was the less risky choice.

But since Trump bypassed Congress entirely, he owns it entirely. If it goes well, Democrats can just claim they supported it and if it goes poorly, they can easily oppose it. All of the political upside is basically gone now. The Iraq AUMF protected the Bush administration for years. Democrats had to repeatedly support ever increasing commitments in Iraq because of the original vote and the fear that things would turn around and they'd look like weak flip floppers if they switched their position. It wasn't until years later when it was clear that the US occupation wasn't working that Democrats finally switched sides.

If the regime change does not happen then this action by Trump will be considered failed war. The chance of regime change happening with only air strikes is going to be minimal. In such case, what did Trump really achieve? He killed their supreme leader at age 86 year who was going to die soon anyway? Is that really worth the potential for the instability in the region and other economic impacts that this going to lead to? I don’t think so but it looks like Trump is looking for some victory laps in his 2nd term to cement his legacy as tough guy..sigh
