Guess who's now leading the Rockets in 3 pt %. Not Bull, Cat, or Francis. It's the Wizard! He's edged out the Bull by .1 % Wiz -.398 Bull-.397 Hard to believe he's actually good for something huh? ------------------ Thoughts?
It's actually 0.01%, not 0.1%. But who's counting? ------------------ Karma happens.... Victoria Titans to win it all!
You tricked me MAN! ------------------ They couldn't stop him in the early 90s; now they can't stop him in the 21st century -- Bill Worell on Phoenix defense on Hakeem
Walt is a cool guy, He took a picture with after a game when he didnt have to. I told him keep shooting those 3's. I then told him how come when when you play the lakers they always get all the calls, he responded by saying I dont know. ------------------
I've always liked Walt. I think he's just had a down year, nothing more. He is a skilled player, jus having a bad year. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
Everyone in this thread seems to like Walt. OK, here's a hypothetical: who do you like better, Walt or Shandon? They're both certainly effective as role players, but should one or the other start? Neither? ------------------
Although looking at his ppg you wouldn't think so but Walt did have a pretty good year. He may of had that cold streak in feb but when the Rockets needed his three point shooting he was there. ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams and Lisa Malosky fan club. atheistalliance.org
I think some of you guys have selective memory. Walt's shooting was bad for a lot longer than February, and his defense is always bad. If Walt had been hitting his shots in Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan and Feb, the Rockets would be in the playoffs, despite his poor defense. Walt has been a net minus for the team this year. ------------------
I have been a Wiz fan ever since he saved the Maryland basketball program. I'm glad we have the Wiz. When he's on, he's really on. ------------------ Chris Webber at the July 28, 2001 3:00 PM news conference when he announces where he will go: "It seemed tough, but with guidance from Steve Francis, I learned my true destiny. That destiny is to play for the Houston Rockets, to bring them back to championship glory. One big man is all they need, and I believe I can fill that void. Thanks to the loyal fans in Sacramento, but Houston, Texas is where I belong."
Why do some people keep calling his poor shooting in February and some of March a "cold streak"? If I recall correctly, he had an injured shooting hand which severely affected his shooting. Yet he was continued to be put on the floor for some reason I have yet to discover. I'm sure if he would have rested the hand it would not have lingered on quite as long. ------------------
Walt is a good role player. He's no starter. He fills a hole in the long range bombing area. When in need of offense he may provide the spark. Then again he may not, but he has the potential to provide it. He's on this team for better or worse. And that's not because he's a good role player, but because he's a good teammate. That's why he will stay. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
I jinxed the Wiz. 3 pt % Bullard - 40.0% Walt - 39.8% It was fun while it lasted. ------------------ Thoughts?
How come Walt didn't play last night? As far as Shandon vs. Walt, I'd prefer Walt at SF, because Shandon's defense isn't as effective there. But, if you gave me a new team, and offered me Shandon or Walt, the choice easily goes to Shandon. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
Yeah, where has Walt been the last few games? I miss his shooting. ------------------ Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon is the greatest player in the history of basketball. If you disagree, you are not a Rocket fan.
He's been injured with a sprained ankle. I'm guessing Rudy's not going to rush him back since we're out of the playoff race and Langhi's using walt's minutes.
the choice between shandon and walt is a hard one. Considering that shandon is a young player, who can blossom under the right system or if he is used right. He would be definitely better then Walt. However, Walt has a proven track record (with other teams) and can definetly come of the bench and energize the team like a Sam Cassell. If i was going to choose, i would prob choose the Wizard. But, who cares about my opinion? ------------------
