If we can find a defensive minded 5 that can rebound and defend like Asik (not to that extent, but well enough) ... then we can keep play as many stretch 4s and Jones/DMo as we want.

It's hard to know who to trade away.

2Pat's gotten better, his mid-range is money.
Morris is effectively playing his 1st NBA season.
And the ceiling for Jones/DMo should be higher ... not to mention Royce White eventually ...

I agree... Smith is a nice player but I'm not sure he is what we need as a backup to Asik. A rebounding shot blocking big to come off the bench would be nice in addition to a shooting guard.

I think when all is said and done Morris is going to be the odd man out. He is simply not good enough with post defense and rebounding to play extended minutes at the 4.

did anyone see the soft touch with his weaker, right hand?

his motor looks good too. looks like a PF whereas morris looks like a SF.

    he needs PT now!

Odd. I think Morris has a decent shot at being the backup 4. I don't see many other teams valuing him as much as Rockets. In a small ball lineup with Asik behind him and not playing against a starting PF, he should be very good.

Not sure why people are down on Greg Smith as the backup. He grabs 16.4% of possible rebounds which is solid (compare Chris Bosh at 12% right now for example). He will be a better defender once he gets his fouling under control (something that nearly every rookie big struggles with their first 1-2 years in the league).
