Rockets have been dissed by the media for a very long time. Even back when we won back to back championships, all you ever heard was that if Jordan had played a full season, that we would not have won it. But the media conveniently forgot about how Jordan and his Bulls always had problems with the Hakeem-led Rockets. We were a matchup nightmare for those guys. That is why the Game 6 loss in '97 to Utah was such a bitter pill to swallow because we could have shown the media and the world that we were good enough to beat Jordan and the Bulls.

So the lack of respect has been going for years and years. It doesn't help that Houston sports in general has a bad tendency to have heartbreak (Oilers against the Steelers and later against the Bills, Phi Slamma Jamma against NC State, Astros before they won the World Series, etc.).

But it is very comical to see people get on here right after a loss and do some of the knee-jerk reactions of wanting to blame Harden or D'Antoni or Ryan Anderson or Billy Paultz or Hambone Williams or whoever else you want to put in there.

We lost due to 3 reasons:
    1) We lost a future HOFer for the last 2 games due to injuries
    2) Our 3 point shooting was so bad that to repeat it would be a 1 in 72,000 shot
    3) Officiating was very questionable especially in the pivotal 3rd quarter

To blame anything else is simply a waste of time to think of...

I hate this "ungrateful fan" ****. Your minds are warped and ****ed to believe in such a silly narrative where the fan making 1% of the player's salary, pays for tickets, gear, time invested when they have busy lives etc are "ungrateful".

Get the **** out of here with that ****.

I wish I had a job where my supporters were "ungrateful" while staring at my 10 million dollar salary.

You nutjobs need some serious god damn perspective .

this team over achieved and fought hard

was up 3 to 2 against a super team

only lost when it's only other superstar got injured and the league and refs decided who's gonna go to the finals

Fans have every right to think what they want, it's because of fans that the business model of sports even works. My point with this post was to try and make sure that we, as fans, give our due to this great team we have just witnessed before getting bogged down in the painful critiques and hyperbolic assessments. Regardless, my vitriol is mostly targeted at the media, not some of the few persistent haters on this board.

Putting that aside the media is still culpable for the BS they propagate. And yes, if I don't like what they have to say I should just not listen to them, but unfortunately, I, as a fan, have an irrational one-way relationship with this team of multi-millionaire athletes and and can't stand the ridiculous crap that's spewed about them.

Being a fan at its core is irrational, and I am well of aware of that, but that's what makes being a fan fun. You get to be emotionally involved about something that doesn't directly affect your day to day life. If you think other people don't knowingly participate in the irrationalities of fandom then you're just being condescending.

Harden's next level skill that'll help transcend his greatness would be to shoot off the ball while playing respectable defense 70-75% of the time. LeBron has shown he can in recent years, it's time Harden learn how too as well. Chris Paul manages the game as a PG better than Harden does because he puts his shooters in positions to succeed. Hopefully Harden can learn to do the same this off season.

The Rockets had a great run, Paul's untimely injuries aren't a fluke. He's had a long list of them in recent years. We have no choice but to resign him, but I can definitely see Paul taking less money (while still doing 4 years) if the Rockets are able to sign another star. Knowing the Rockets, Morey will use all of his cards to get PG13 or LBJ. Say good bye to all of our future draft picks if we want to get rid of Anderson.

    #2 behind Lebron.

    "
Harden is likely to be named the MVP of the NBA this year based on his regular-season brilliance. He wasn't quite as spectacular in the postseason, and his team's loss to the Warriors in the Western Conference finals indicates to some that he's not as transcendent as he should be.

Nevertheless, he was clearly the engine of the Rockets with the best numbers, and his playoff net rating was better than teammate Chris Paul's. Paul and Harden were both necessary for the Rockets to have a chance to advance, but Harden carried the bigger load of the two."

"Each year the team with the top record needs to pick the top player from a team they just beat in the playoffs".

Butler? Mitchell? They'd look real nice as Rockets right now.

    Well, he's not wrong.

Houston is just one more player, (or perhaps a better coach) away from reaching that level. But there isn't much in the rest of the league that can compete. Maybe Boston when Kyrie comes back. Maybe 76ers if/when Lebron goes there - but even then that drops the cavaliers into lottery status. Pelicans are close. Toronto maybe.

He's wrong. The point of pro sports with a salary cap is parity and intrigue.

Yes, but that is not the goal of each individual team, obviously.

I think the Rockets got a lot of respect this season from the media. We were considered by and by to be the only team(maybe fully healthy Boston) to really threaten the perch that the Warriors are on. The Rockets gave them a run but ultimately, Kerr said it best: "talent took over"

We should have no shame at losing to this team. Sure the way we cratered the backboard was crappy, but Golden State really played great basketball and made winning plays in games 6 and 7.

Part of what would've have given the Rockets respect is if we won the title...this year. It would've been a monumental win beating this Warriors team, but it would've been a failure if we didn't beat Lebron...and we all would've been just as crushed. Winning absolves everything and is the fundamental piece that earns the respect of those around us. The Spurs have won for 20 years...And the media will continue to give them a shot as long as Pop is there. Mike D'Antoni, Morey and Harden need to get over this hump... They need to win it all. Injuries may change everything, but for now the Rockets are in a great position to get back to this spot. Respect isn't just given out like candy...The Rockets have to go and EARN IT...

Not only did they "push" them, they in fact proved they were the better team if not for the horribly unfortunate circumstances that cost them both of the last two games.

Yes. Much props to MDA. He is a coach many thought couldn't coach defense, who took a team not that renowned for playing defense, and got them to play TREMENDOUS defense, for most of the series.
