Rumors are swirling that Will Muschamp, Auburn defensive coordinator, will soon be named Texas' new defensive coordinator. I think this is a great move for UT, this is the type of guy that UT should have at both coordinator positions, someone who will be a head coach in 2 years, not one of Mack's buddies. Will Akina stay on as secondary coach, or move on?
I kinda enjoy stealing DC's from Auburn. Obviously, the last time it happened with Chizik it worked out nicely for Texas.
does he know how to defend the spread? b/c the big 12 is a spread offense conference. chizik came from an undefeated auburn which had a very good D and by his 2nd year we were sick of his 100-ish ranked pass D. granted, we kept sucking at pass D this year so maybe it wasn't all him but he has to take part of the blame. coming from the SEC wouldn't seem to be the best practice for the spread but the fact auburn was 10th in pass D would seem to be good. and they beat florida, so that's another plus. either way, i don't see how the D could be worse and i don't know who has better credentials so i hope we end up getting him.

sounds good to me. now i'd just love to replace greg davis with major applewhite(or anyone but i'd love to give applewhite a shot. he definitely can't be worse than davis).
I got the impression Applewhite had a vendetta against Texas when he said he would love to coach the Aggies so he could take it to the Longhorns every year. Did I dream that? Assumed he was bitter about being benched. Aside from that, ya... Match made in heaven. UT would be looking nasty until Muschamp leaves to go coach Iowa or something.
When did he say that? I've never heard even a word about that in Austin. Muschamp would be a very nice addition. The defense can only improve from what they've been the last couple of years. They're going to need it, too, going into 2008. They've got Missouri, Arkansas, @ Kansas, & @ Tech on the schedule in addition to A&M (home) and OU. It's a much tougher schedule next season and they're going to need to be able to stop someone.

on orgeron: why would a former SEC HC settle for a positional job? plus, UT already has oscar giles as the d-line coach. i dont buy it, would be nice though.
It was either on 610 or 790 about 1-1.5yrs ago. During an on the air interview. Maybe I am wrong... But I doubt it. I swear I remember it happening.
