It was also good to have sterns back Makes a difference when we get starters back Wondering if we are going to hit the transfer portal for more players
Nah Utah and the pac 12 are overrated Utah lost to USC and Oregon, teams with speed and a decent quarterback Sam qualifies as a decent QB and Utah’s QB is not a good passer, dude missed some wide open receivers would have lost badly to LSU like OU
I love it that UT only wins Bowl Games against good teams when the other team cares less than UT does.
Ossai and the front 7 had one of the best defensive performances I’ve seen as of late as well. We’ll see if the scheme can hold up against a full Big 12 schedule but hopefully Ash will use this as a blueprint for his defense. On the coaching front, Chip Brown reporting he’s hearing the A&M DT and a defensive analyst for the DT/LB openings. Hope we aim for a bit higher.
Thought it was well known teams who are disappointed in their bowl opponent tend to play down. If UT schemed great, please continue. The last decade has been utterly subpar, including this season.
Utah had a bad quarterback who can't throw, they aren't a team that can come from behind and win games. Matchup and Health. Did they rest a bunch of players going to the NFL? I don't think so. I guess Utah was disappointed in playing Oregon too @Buck Turgidson
At this point, Herman has proven he can get kids motivated to play bowl games. His issue so far is that he doesn't get them up to playing teams like Baylor, Iowa State and TCU.
This year was definitely an odd one in how inconsistent our play was, but the coaching turmoil with the injuries in the secondary definitely showed. Those were all good teams in their own right. The bigger headscratcher is why Kansas was so close.
Starting so many underclassmen on defense was probably a big contributing factor. But that doesn’t really excuse why the offense sputtered as often as it did. Herman talking about simplifying the defense and playing faster gives me hope somewhat. Watching 3 DL get stonewalled with a delayed safety blitz was so aggravating and slow to watch.
Who would’ve thought Beck, Mehringer and Warehime would all got OC jobs. OC/QB: Yurchich RB: Drayton OL: Hand WR: TE: DC/S: Ash DE: Giles DT: LB: CB:
There are some rumblings that he might come back. Doubt it happens but would be nice to see some actual defense by our secondary.
