That was the worst pitch EVER, but great grit to come back and tie it.

FYI…the US U-20 MNT is winning the CONCACAF U-20 final 5-0 over Dominican Rep. Both teams have qualified for the U-20 World Cup AND the 2024 Olympics. It’ll be our first appearance in the Olympics since 2008.

I’m not sure how we stack up internationally, but this team has absolutely dominated this tournament. If you’re wondering, both Canada and Mexico lost to Guatemala in earlier rounds.

    EDIT: It’s now 6-0.

Well after a decent WC, what happened to GIO and the way it was handled, I don't want Berhalter back.

So...the USMNT has turned into a f***ing soap opera. Yesterday, it comes out that Gregg Berhalter is under investigation stemming from someone giving US Soccer info that he did something in his past. Berhalter releases a statement about it saying that the issue was something that happened between him and his wife of 31 years when they were in college and just dating. Apparently, in a drunken incident, he kicked her in the leg. They broke up for several months, got back together, and have been married since. A non-story. Someone threatened to release this allegedly damaging into to the public.

Turns out that someone was Danielle Reyna, wife of Claudio Reyna and mother of Gio. She was pissed about the comments Gregg said about Gio and his playing time.

This is the epitome of a Soccer Mom.

What makes it weirder...Berhalter and Reyna played youth, high school, and national team together. Their wives BOTH played for UNC together. These people have known each other closely for decades. Mrs Reyna knew exactly what the incident was and how much of a nothingburger it was...but she still chose violence.

Also, current asst. coach Anthony Hudson will coach the team in the Jan. window as Berhalter's contract has expired.

Knowing all of what has transpired, there's no way they can bring Gregg back. They have a player out there that's a future star and now there's a very public incident between the player and the coach. Not saying they should side with the player just because he's good and because his parents have thrown the most epic hissyfit of all time. But this stemmed from him throwing this player under the bus in a public setting. It's going to have a very adverse affect on how the other players can trust him (and apparently their parents, too).

It's time to move on from his mediocrity and this mess, regardless of the investigation.

Hard to say at this moment. No other American I'd want other than Jesse Marsch...but he's busy coaching Leeds United in the EPL. It's such a strange time to be looking for a national team coach. Most of who you might want are currently employed and mid-season. Add to it that we don't have to qualify for the next WC and won't have a meaningful game until (hopefully) the next Copa America. I'd love for them to do something big and go after a big name from Europe or S. America. Would a Luis Enrique from Spain be interested? How about a Tite? Roberto Martinez has been mentioned but he does little for me. Did NOTHING with an absolutely stacked Belgian team. Have a feeling, assuming they do decide to move on, that this will drag into the summer to make sure they have the full range of candidates.

This is what I was thinking and almost asked. Money shouldn't be an option, right? You'd think a young, talented team would be very attractive.

i really doubt that marcelo gallardo would take it but thats someone us soccer should look at. i think he's too ambitious to take a long term job as a national team coach but he's the biggest name in south american coaching and is out of a job.

Not even just a nothingburger but she knew that would be a painful thing for Mrs. Berhalter to look back on and have to discuss again but yet she did it.
Truly classless by Claudio and Danielle. Extremely trashy. She thought it would show Gio and then her in a better light instead it makes them all look worse. She didn't give a damn about the incident from 25 years ago until she felt it might be a good time to bring it up and make her son look better while making GGG look worse.
I think most didn't care for GGG but Danielle sure has done a great job in looking worse than him here.

The USA better keep Greg as coach or they are gonna be paying a HUGE amount in a settlement for defamation.

Why would they owe anything if he doesn't have a contract?

US Soccer didn't defame him in any way. The Reyna's did.
