Suns have had one of the more unique franchises in our league. They appear to always produce a great product, but not a dominant one.

So does Tim Duncan really get this much credit? Great player, sure. One of the GOATs. But how great is Timmy's legacy if he ends up on, say, the Bucks instead of the Spurs?

 

Sure he does. He's a great team mate who tries to make his fellow teammates better. He's low key, no drama and a humble guy. In contract, there is Kobe Bryant who thinks has the best ever. Sure, Kobe might be a terrific player and win championships, but he brings drama and chaos. You can have the best players on a team, but if there is fighting and bickering, that team will eventually implode.

I see what you're saying, but you're not giving the Spurs organization and Pop enough credit. I doubt he would have been as successful in another less competent organization.

What multiple title winner can you not say the exact same thing for, besides LeBron? He and Hakeem are the only multiple title winners to spend the majority of their careers without star help alongside them.

 

Should be noted that he would have a 17th 50 win season if there wasn't for the lockout. Only 50 games were played that year. Spurs had a record of 37-13, good for first in the NBA. Putting them on pace for roughly ~60 wins.

 

I do give it to the Spurs. Normally teams always gain power one year and drop down a couple years later. Spurs been rolling with winning records for awhile now.

 

I understand what you're saying.

But I don't think using Kobe in your example makes for a good argument. Since well..

Kobe (5) has more championships than Duncan (4) and regardless of Kobe being a drama queen or whatever that organization has still posted eleven 50+ seasons with Kobe being there.
