US missiles strike Pakistan

I agree with you about fixing the infastructure, I also agree that the Quran teaches tolerance, but it also teaches hatred....thus the problem....you have mixed messages.

As for strikes inside Pakistan, I would prefer a strike team.....to eliminate collatoral damage....but barring that...a missile is fine.....

The problem I have with this alleged war on terrorism, is that we are going about it in a half assed manner.....

Either you are willing to go all the way, and destroy an entire culture if necessary, or you have to find another way.

The problem with Missile strikes is the collatoral damage, while you may get 20 terrorists in one building, across the street might be a family...and killing a couple of them pisses off their entire family creating more terrorists.

Which is why I prefer a multinational hit squad....go in wet....

But you have to have a President who works well with others.....maybe after Tuesday...huh?

Seems like the entire rest of the world (free world and "terrorist" countries included) would rather have Obama than McCain. Let's hope its the beginning of a more peaceful and economically prosperous world.

Bosh, I think you missed my point. I think to win a war you have to take the entire cultures will to fight away, and that means killing indiscriminantly.

And we are certainly not willing to do that, nor do I think we should, so to me the missile strikes are only a half arsed solution, while you may kill some terrorists you create others with collatoral damage.

I think a multinational Delta style task force is a better option, you have to minimize collatoral damage.

When I was talking about whiping out a culture, I was speaking in generalities concerning winning a war.....Roman style, IMO.

You have to be willing to get dirtier than the other guy to win a war.....you can't do it from a distance with kid gloves.

The missile strikes were intentional. They absolutely knew what the damage would be. That is intentional IMO. What's unintentional? A pilot-less missile strike? REALLY?

 

It deals with how Infidels are defined and what you should do with them, if you are Muslim I am sure you know.

Let's not dilute this conversation into one that we have discussed numerous times.

Did you read my post? What part about intentionally targetting civilians was unclear?

Yes, and we knew exactly what the results of bombing German cities would be during WW2. And what invading Iraq would involve. And what burning towns during the Civil War would be. Are those all terrorism? Again, none of those were done with the specific purpose of killing civilians. They knew it would happen, but that wasn't the purpose of those actions.

 

Lets just keep the terrorist out of this country. We will kill one and another 4 will pop up.

If you need a good example of collateral damage, there are much better cases out there. A drone attack on a bunch of militants and no mention of innocents. How about that time they attacked a wedding party in Afghanistan? That was wrong.

 

And why announce it was the USA?

Islam is very strict in what it says about those who are a threat to the religion and its followers; they are an enemy and they are destined to burn in hell. It is repeated many times in the Quran and it is in the core of every Muslim.

The question arises when you ask what constitutes a threat to the religion. If you live in the hell hole that is a great deal of the third-world, the beacon of prosperity and freedom that America is represents everything that is wrong with the world. In your uneducated and ignorant understanding, they are the sole people responsible for your condition. You begin to understand and truly believe that w/o them the world would be a better place. From there it is only a short distance to acting upon your beliefs.

It was not that long ago when Islam was the beacon of the world, just as America is today. Baghdad treasured th same virtues as free thinking, knowledge, equality and prosperity as America treasures today. Unfortunately, all that was left behind when the world transformed and left much of the Islamic world in the crapper.

This is why I argue that if you strengthen your people's minds you do not fall victim to these traps. The developed world is a prime example of this. Why do you think that it is a prime concern of much of these countries to educate ALL of their people AND monitor what they are being taught. The pen IS mightier than the sword.
